In gently undulating pasture c. 30m S of a WSW-ENE flowing stream. Shown as a circular hachured area (diam. c. 20m) on the 1906 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Monument levelled c. 1930 according to local information and was similar to another ringfort in the area (TS066-096----). No surface trace now visible at ground level. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - TS066-122: Barrow - stepped barrow, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS066-122----. In level ungrazed pasture to SE and pasture to NW. Bisected by road, long axis NE-SW. Extant half to SE survives as a semi-circular area (dims. 18m NE-SW; 8m NW-SE) defined by scarp (H 0.9m; Wth 3.75m) NE-SW. The scarp defining the interior falls gently to an almost level berm (L 9m) NE-SW. Truncated by shallow drain (D 0.75m; Wth 2.95m) and tertiary road (long axis NE-SW) through centre. A drain has been cut around exterior of berm NE-SW. Slight rise around edge of berm (Wth 6.5m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.5m) probably upcast from drain. A short portion of outer bank is visible at NE, but there is a gap (Wth c. 10m) ENE-E. Bank (Wth 9m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.6m) continues E-SW. This may have been fosse recut as drain. Interior slopes down uniformly from a higher point at NE to a lower area to SW. Half of monument to NW, generally levelled, but may be a very slight trace of outer bank SW-NE. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - TS066-123001: Barrow - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS066-123001-. In gently undulating pasture; poorly drained to N and S. Circular area (diam. 17m) defined by an inner bank (Wth 10.3m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 3.05m), fosse (basal Wth 1.2m; overall Wth 10.85m; D 0.7m) and outer bank (Wth 5.6m; int. H 0.85m; ext. H 0.15m). The inner bank is almost reduced to scarp NW-NE and steps outwards at base, possibly due to cattle erosion and slippage over time. The fosse is well defined W-N-SE and traceable yet inconspicuous SE-S-W. Possible remains of low outer bank are best defined NE-SE. Interior appears featureless. Ring-barrow (TS066-123002-) is c. 6-8m to NNE. In gently undulating pasture, at S edge of a poorly drained area. Identified on Bruff Survey aerial photograph (ref. 2133; Bruff 48). Circular area (dims. 5.3m N-S; 5.75m E-W) defined by fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.1m) and remains of an outer bank (Wth 3.6m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.18m) NW-N-E and a naturally undulating area defines monument SSE-W. Breaks (Wth c. 3m) in bank at WNW and ESE. Interior slopes downwards to NE with prevalent slope. Shallow drain (long-axis c. NNE-SSW) to immediate E and W. A ringfort (TS066-123----) lies c. 6-8m to SSW. At the foot of a N-facing slope of a gentle hillock, with a standing stone (TS066-198----) visible 86m to the SSE on the summit. A stream runs roughly NE-SW c. 70m to the NW. There is a ring-barrow (TS066-172----) and a stepped barrow (TS066-122---) 184m and 260m to the S respectively. Identified by Doody (Bruff 58, aerial photograph 2133). A very subtle monument consisting of a low, roughly circular raised area (diam. N-S 5m; E-W 5.2m; H 0.03-0.15m) enclosed by a fosse (Wth 1.2-1.4m; D below ext. ground level 0.05-0.14m). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - TS066-172: Barrow - ring-barrow, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS066-172----. In low-lying, gently undulating, marshy terrain, in rough pasture, at the base of a hillock which is surmounted by a standing stone (TS066-198----), visible 100m to the N. A stream runs roughly N-S c. 120m to the W. There is a stepped barrow (TS066-122----) 80m to the S and a ditch barrow (TS066-166----) 184m to the N. This monument was identified on an aerial photograph (Air Corps 249/16, 02/09/1959). A circular, slightly raised mound (diam. 6.5m) enclosed by a fosse (Wth 1.4-1.6m; D 0.08-0.14m) and a poorly preserved outer bank (int. H 0.1-0.15m; ext. H 0.8-0.1m; Wth 1.2-1.9m at crest, 1.4-2.3m at base). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 13 March 2013 - TS066-186: Standing stone, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS066-186----. On a level area near the top of a SE-facing slope, in improved pasture. Identified during ASI fieldwork. An enclosure (TS066-170----) is located c. 32m to the NE. A standing stone (0.48m x 0.14m; H 1.65m), rectangular in plan and orientated NNW-SSE, possibly aligned with a peak in the Galtee Mountains to the SSE. The stone has a wedge-shaped point at its apex. Raised spots on the western elevation appear to be natural and notches at the SE angle appear man-made. There is a depression around the base of the stone due to cattle erosion. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of revised upload: 9 September 2014 - TS066-198: Standing stone, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS066-198----. Slightly off the summit of a hillock in gently undulating terrain, under pasture. Identified during field survey. There is a ditch barrow (TS066-166----) 86m to the NNW, a ring-barrow (TS066-172----) and stepped barrow (TS066-122----) 100m and 180m to the S respectively. An upright of sedimentary stone (dims. at base 0.47m; at top 0.43m NE-SW x 0.16m NW-SE; H 1.83m) of rectangular section and orientated ENE-WSW (60°-240°). The stone tapers slightly towards the top and the apex of the stone slopes upwards towards the WSW. Due to the sedimentary nature of the stone the sides are very flat and straight. There is a hollow depression (D 0.25-03m; Wth 4.5-4.7m) around the base of the stone caused by cattle poaching when they use the stone as a scratching post. On a gentle N-facing slope of a ridge in undulating terrain under lush meadow. The monument is indicated on the 2nd (1904) ed. OS 6-inch map as an earthen bank forming the E and S side of an enclosure, with a small pond depicted at the N end of the E bank. On the OS Ortho image it appears as a cropmark of a large rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 88m NW-SE; c. 74m NE-SW) with rounded corners. According to local information there is no known 'fort' in this field. It is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of revised upload: 12 October 2015 - TS073-002: Earthwork, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS073-002----. On a SW-facing slope, c. 100m NE of a ringfort (TS073-003----), below the crest of slope in a depression, in undulating terrain under lush meadow. A standing stone c. 54m to the SSE appears to be a scratching post. The monument is outlined on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular area between three field boundaries. A NW-SE boundary formed the W side of the earthwork, a NE-SW boundary ran through the SE quadrant and a S boundary ran up to the S quadrant. It is indicated on the 2nd (1904) ed. OS 6-inch map as a pond. Between the 1st and the 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map the NW-SE field boundaries had been removed and a new boundary running along E side had been constructed. This field boundary has since been removed. According to local information there is only one 'fort', that is the ringfort mentioned above, in this field. The possible earthwork is not visible at ground level. The depression at the location would suggest that what is indicated on the map could have been a pond or that the monument has been quarried out. On a SW-facing slope below crest of slope in undulating terrain under lush meadow. Located c. 100m SW of a possible earthwork (TS073-002----). As depicted on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map, only the E half of the monument survives. A field boundary which ran NW-SE along outer NE quadrant has been removed. A ringfort (diam. 31m N-S) defined by a round-topped earthen bank (Wth 7.9m; int. H 1.75m; ext. H 2.68m) which falls sharply to exterior, the outer face has been truncated by cattle with bank material exposed. Some scrub on the bank and brambles in the NE quadrant and on the external face of the bank in SE. There is a gap (Wth 2.1m) in the E quadrant.
