In improved pasture, on a gentle S-facing slope. A levelled circular rise (dims. 40m E-W; 38m N-S) defined by a short portion of bank (Wth at top 1m; overall Wth 6.6m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.4m) at N and remains of a backfilled fosse (basal Wth 1m; overall Wth 14m; D 0.5m) best preserved WSW-N-ESE. The fosse is barely seen ESE-S-WSW where the interior has been levelled into it. The interior survives as a very low rise and the monument is incorporated into the field as pasture. Until at least 1975 (Cahill) this was a well-preserved bivallate enclosure. Wheeler (OPW Files 29/10/1965) describes the enclosing elements as a bank (Wth at top 1.83m; int. H 0.61m; ext. H 4.88m), a very wide, deep fosse (basal Wth 4.57m; D 3.96m) and an outer bank (Wth at top 4.57m; int. H 3.96m; ext. H 0.61m). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - TS063-047: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS063-047----. In forestry, on a gentle N-facing slope. A circular area (diam. c. 20m) defined by scarp (Wth 1.5m; H 1.5m), where seen intermittently through vegetation, and a waterlogged fosse (basal Wth 1.6m; overall Wth 6.8m; Dth 0.45m) which has been re-cut from SW-W-N (basal Wth 3.4m; overall Wth 6.65m; D 1.75m) as a forestry drain and has been breached at SW and N for drainage purposes. Top soil surrounding the monument from N-E-SW has been skimmed and dumped around the exterior. There is a possible entrance (Wth 4m) at E. A forest track runs NNE-SE immediately E of the E edge of the ringfort. The centre of the interior is densely overgrown. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - TS063-048: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS063-048----. In improved, level pasture. A trapezoidal area (dims. 56m NW-SE; 44m NE-SW) defined by scarp (Wth 2.5m; H 0.35m) to SW and NE end of NW side and by a bank (overall Wth 3.3m; int. H 0.75m; ext. H 0.4m) to SE, with the remains of a shallow fosse (basal Wth 0.75m; overall Wth 5m; D 0.25m) to SW, NE end of NW side and a well-defined fosse (basal Wth 2.5m; overall Wth 6.45m; D 1.15m) to SE. The fosse opens to form a pond at the N corner. The fosse at SE extends beyond the monument to SW and NE and may have been for drainage purposes as the area was poorly drained prior to the plantation of forestry to N and NW. The interior is level and raised above the exterior ground level (H 0.1m, except at SE H 0.4m). The remains of a levelled, linear bank (L c. 50m) running c. E-W traverses that interior, off-centre to S and extends beyond the enclosure to W. The monument is incorporated into the field as pasture. There is no visible surface trace of the buildings immediately to the NW depicted on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 Works at or in relation to a recorded monument need two months' written notice to the National Monuments Service (National Monuments (Amendment) Act 1994, section 12). ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage) - Oakfield House, house, 1805–1815, Regional interest, registry number 22106008, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=TS®no=22106008.
