Situated on a gentle S-facing slope in very wet, rushy terrain in rough pasture, on a fairly flat ridge. A grass-covered mound (16.3m N-S; H 0.6-1m) defined by an interrupted non-contiguous circle of twenty-six substantial kerbstones of sandstone with some quartz inclusions (H 0.44-0.88m; Wth 0.52-0.8m; T 0.19-0.32m). Some of the kerbstones are split with their flat surface towards the interior. According to an OPW field report (30.12.77) there are cupmarks on the external faces of some of the kerbstones in the SE quad; these are now covered with lichen. A possible cupmark was noted on the internal face of a stone in the NNW quadrant and on the external face of a stone at ESE. Two boulders are exposed roughly in the centre of the mound aligned NW-SE and 0.48m apart. The SW stone is 0.93m long and at least 0.25m wide; the NE stone is more grass covered. Both appear to have their flat edge lining the interior of a possible cist; no visible end stones. Immediately S of the site the slope has been cut to form a field drainage ditch associated with a boundary bank. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). Situated in wet, marshy terrain at the base of a NE-facing slope. Depicted as a small square-shaped area on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map while on the 1904 ed., the SE side of the enclosure is marked as a field boundary. A poorly preserved rectangular enclosure (dims. 19m N-S; c. 25m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.56m; ext. H 1.1m) which has been reduced to a scarp at W, and an outer fosse (Wth 2.6m; D 0.6m). The site has been extensively damaged in recent times by machinery used in connection with tree-planting. The bank at N and the scarp at W have been badly damaged and a trench has been cut through the interior from W to E. The site has been cleared of scrub which is piled up at the E end. Deciduous saplings have been planted within the enclosure. Several drainage trenches have been excavated immediately N and W of site. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). Situated in gently rolling terrain, on a ridge which slopes quite steeply to the Suir river valley S of the site. A late seventeenth/early eighteenth-century two-storey T-shaped house with attic, of randomly coursed sandstone rubble with roughly cut quoins. The roof was steeply pitched with a chimney stack at the end of each gable, projecting internally. The main block of the house (ext. dim. 16.52m x 6.12; H c. 5m) faces E, with the projecting T (ext. dim. 9.95m x 6.1m) extending to the W. The E façade consists of five bays with a central doorway which led to a hall/lobby area, with the rooms to the N and S being accessed from this hallway. The projecting T was also divided, along a N-S axis, each room having a separate external entrance, one in the N wall, the other in the S. The stairs does not survive but it appears to have been located in the hallway. There are fireplaces in each gable at ground and first-floor level - those that survive intact have simple stone slab lintels. In the W gable there is a particularly large fireplace with a brick oven on the N side. Most of the windows are long and rectangular with flat-headed voussoirs. All the gables have attic lights and the floors throughout were wooden. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Situated on a natural rise of land sloping to the SE in very undulating terrain. A natural hillock which has been truncated to form a ringfort. The present remains consist of a circular enclosure (diam. 33m N-S and E-W) delimited by a substantial earth and stone bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.8m) and outer fosse (Wth 3.3m; D 0.2m). The interior slopes very gradually to the SE with the natural slope of the land. The entrance (Wth 2.8m) at E is defined by a large boulder on the N side (dims. 1.4m L x 0.7m H x 0.85m D) and a much smaller boulder on the S side (dims. 0.63m L x 0.44m H x 0.5m D). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). Situated on the NE-facing slope of a hill in pastureland with the land falling steeply to the N to a river valley. A D-shaped enclosure (dims. 22m NE-SW; 25m NW-SE) with straight sides at NW and SW, the latter being defined by a natural scarp (H 0.38m) which runs beyond the site to the NW. The rest of the enclosure is defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.8m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.76m) with no evidence of an external fosse. The interior slopes very gently to the NE and is quite undulating, possibly due to ridge and furrow. The enclosure may have been a garden plot though it is indicated quite clearly as an oval enclosure on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). Situated just below the crest of a NW-SE ridge, on the NE side, in undulating reclaimed pasture-land. The site is not depicted on the 1st ed. (1840) or 2nd (1904) ed. OS 6-inch map although the 2nd ed. map depicts an area of outcrop at this location. According to Stout (1984, 21-2) there is a tradition that this possible standing stone is associated with a kerbed mound (23:37) 300m to the SE. The stone is composed of sandstone with quartz inclusions and has a rounded profile and rectangular plan (H 1.1m; dims. 1.85m x 0.4-0.53m). It has inclining sides and is split along its bedding plane giving flat faces on the NE and SW sides. Aligned NW-SE.
