According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 1640 this was a 'castle demolished' whose proprietor is listed as Cromuck Ryan of Bonnovoy (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 53). A 19th-century two-storey farmhouse was constructed on the site of the castle, apparently using the stonework from the castle. Punch-dressed jamb stones of 16th/17th-century date have been reused in the doorway and as quoin stones for the farmhouse.
