Situated on the SW-facing slope of a ridge in tillage. The N half of the site consists of an earthen bank incorporated into a field boundary (Wth c. 2.5m; H c. 1.4m), while the S half of the site is levelled. A possible fosse at S is indicated by a slight dip in the ground and a cropmark in the corn. The line of the fosse suggests a possible bivallate ringfort (int. diam. N-S 33m; overall diam. c. 48m). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Situated on the S-facing slope of a ridge, in tillage. A circular area (diam. 63m) the S half of which is levelled, though a low, broad, curving rise indicates the line of the bank. The remaining earthen bank (Wth c. 3m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H c. 2m) on the N side is heavily overgrown with nettles and scrub and is incorporated in the field boundary. A curving depression in the interior at NE may indicate a former fosse which suggests that the visible bank is an outer bank, with the internal bank and fosse levelled. This would give an internal diameter of c. 24m. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). Situated on a rise in undulating tillage and pastureland. A roughly rectangular-shaped graveyard (TN021-020002) with no visible remains of a medieval church, except a possible portion of the W gable (L c. 3.3m; H c. 2m; wall T 0.8m), heavily ivy-clad, in the SW corner. South of the old graveyard and at a lower level, lie the ruins of a Protestant church, built c. 1800, probably incorporating the fabric of the earlier church. The oldest visible gravestone dates to 1780. According to the OS Letters the church was situated in the centre of the graveyard and the N end of the W gable was all that survived, incorporated in the E wall of a small school house (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 3, 96-7). There are now no visible remains of the old school house which was marked on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
