H 2m) and an external fosse (Wth 1.9m) with a possible entrance gap (Wth 1.5m) at SW. A road intersects the enclosing bank at NE. The low grass-covered wall-footings of a rectangular house site (int. dims. 9m N-S; 5m E-W) are located in the centre of the site. The house site has a sunken interior, is orientated on a N-S axis and is of recent appearance. A smaller ringfort (TN019-039002) is located to the SE, separated by a berm (Wth 8m). This ringfort, separated by a berm (Wth 8m) from a larger ringfort to the SE, (TN019-039001) consists of a circular area (diam. 27.5m N-S; 25.7m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (Wth 2.4m; int. Situated on a low natural rock outcrop at the N end of a low N-S ridge in a mountain valley, overlooked by higher ground on all sides. The site consists of a section of a drystone field wall (H 1.1m; T 0.5m; L 22m) extending N-S across the top of a low ridge which according to local knowledge is the site of a penal chapel. This appears to be the remains of an old field boundary with no evidence of any cut stone or building material for a building. In the Archbishop's Visitation of Ballina in 1752 it is recorded that there was a chapel in the mountain which local people believe to have been located at this site (Griffin and Griffin 2000, 62).
