On a lower E slope of Knocknanuss mountain in the Galty mountain range. Located c. 40-50m W of a steep river gully. A circular stone enclosure (int. diam. 12.8m N-S; 13.2m E-W; overall diam. 18.5m N-S; 17.5m E-W) defined by a large collapsed rubble stone wall (T 1.7m; H 0.35-0.9m). The W quadrant was built into the mountain slope. There is a possible entrance in the ESE defined by two sandstone boulders with flat faces to the S. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - TS073-034: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS073-034----. On an E-facing slope NE of Knocknanuss mountain in the Galty mountain range. On a raised platform, the E side of which was built-up (H 1.6m) to provide a level surface for the hut site. An oval structure (int. dims. 5m N-S; 9m E-W) with walls (T 0.85) of collapsed red sandstone. A small rectangular stone structure (dims. c. 2.4m) lies immediately SE of hut site. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - TS073-039: Hut site, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTS073-039----. Possible rectangular hut site (ext. dims. 7.4m x 4.2m) located in a small, triangular patch of cultivation ridges which run downslope in an E-W direction. Listed as Dromleagh 4 (Costello 2016, 96; Costello 2016, 299) and described as a roughly rectangular spread of stones, aligned E-W, on a gentle grassy slope. A possible internal wall noted 2.3m from its E end suggests that it may be a collapsed hut. To the S of the structure are two clearance cairns, containing stones picked from the ridges. A gently-curving bank and ditch runs above the cultivation ridges, presumably to channel surface water away from whatever crop(s) used to grow on the ridges (Costello 2020, 126). On a N slope of Lough Curra, on a forestry line. A stream which feds into the Clydagh river flows in a deep gully c. 5m to the E. A rectangular structure with rounded-angles (int. dims. 6.1m N-S; 3.3m E-W), built of dry-stone walling (Wth 0.65-0.7m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.8m) of red sandstone which is overgrown with grass and moss. The W wall, NW angle and N wall are the best preserved with an entrance (Wth 3.1m) in the centre of the E wall. The S gable has collapsed and there is a sheep gap mid-way along the S wall. A trackway (Wth 1.7m) runs NW-SE to the edge of the gully, past the SW angle of the house. The house may have been used for booleying, it is similar in plan and location to a booley hut on the Limerick side of the Galtees (Danaher 1945, JRSAI, vol. 75).
