Rectangular area (dims. 54.7m N-S; 50.5m E-W) enclosed by a bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 1.33m) and wide, shallow, flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 5m; D 0.74m) with outer bank (Wth 3.7m; ext. H 1.3m) best preserved along S side. Leat at SE angle. Interior heavily overgrown; traces of building on a platform in the interior were previously noted (Barry 1977, 204). A rectangular enclosure (dims. 40.7m N-S; 41.6m E-W) defined by a very shallow fosse (Wth 2m) identified on aerial photograph taken in June 1963 (GSIAP, R 22/1). The site is bisected roughly N-S by a post and wire fence. The field has many undulations and drainage ditches and the site may be associated with these. The site has been partially levelled with surviving remains consisting of a raised platform (c. 26m N-S; 38m E-W) surrounded by a wide, shallow fosse which is still visible at S, W and N. A road runs parallel to the E side of the site and may have truncated it to some extent; this road is present on 1st and 2nd ed. OS 6-inch maps. At N the earth and stone bank survives (Wth 3.8m; int. H 0.56m; ext. H 1.3m) with wet, external fosse (Wth 4.6m; D 0.85m) and counterscarp bank (Wth 3.2m; ext. H 0.32m). Situated on a W-facing slope in rolling pastureland with a fast-flowing river (E-W) immediately to the S and a motte (TN027-018----) to the SE. An oval, steep-sided, flat-topped (19m N-S; 11m E-W; H 2.64m) earthen mound (base diam. 25.8m N-S; 19.4m E-W) enclosed by a fosse (Wth 4.2m; D 0.7m) visible around the base at NE and SW which appears to be cut into bedrock. A steep-sided, flat-topped (16.7m N-S; 14.2m E-W; H 3.6m), roughly circular mound (base diam. 24.5m NE-SW) surrounded by a broad, deep fosse (Wth 4.6m; D 0.83m) which is enclosed by a later field bank at S. Situated on a steep NW-facing terrace in pasture. Not indicated on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map and shown as a small oval mound or enclosure on the latest ed. The site (approx. overall diam. c.18.5m) has been built into the hillslope, utilising the steep NW slope to give a defensive appearance to the site on this side. The site comprises a platform with only portion of a low, broad bank surviving at E (Wth 2m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) and no visible enclosing fosse. The interior and SE portion are heavily overgrown with brambles and scrub. The platform is composed of clay with stone protruding from the base. Situated on the SW-facing slope of a hill, in pasture. A platform ringfort (diam. c. 29m N-S) with traces of an enclosing bank (Wth 1.8m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.55-1.5m), largely reduced to a scarp downslope. There is a slight suggestion of an outer fosse (Wth 3.5m; D 0.4m) in the SW quadrant and a small clearing at NNW revealed a broad, shallow, U-shaped fosse. Detached three-bay two-storey house with breakfront, built c.1800, now disused. Pitched slate roof with brick chimneystack. Roughcast rendered limestone walls. Square-headed openings with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows to ground floor and casement to first. Timber battened door set in square-headed opening. Slightly lower two-bay single-storey outbuilding with loft attached to north-west gable of house having segmental-headed carriage opening with timber battened double-leaf door, and two-bay outbuildings to southwest and southeast, forming courtyard to front of house. All having pitched slate roofs and roughcast rendered and exposed limestone walls.
