A circular area (diam. 39m NE-SW), heavily overgrown with scrub, defined by three earthen banks with intervening fosses - an inner bank largely reduced to a scarp (H 1.22m), a fosse (Wth 9m; D 1.93m), a middle bank (Wth 6m; ext. H 2.4m), an outer fosse (Wth 5.4m; D 1.96m) and an outer bank (Wth 4.5m; ext. H 1.5m). No entrance feature visible, though a gap (Wth 3m) is broken through the middle bank at SE. Situated on a gentle N-facing slope in undulating terrain. A poorly preserved site consisting of a circular area (diam. 26.7m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H c. 0.5m) denuded in places and levelled in the N sector. The site is used as a garden with evidence of burning on the S bank and refuse dumped on the W bank; a concrete shed is built immediately outside the N sector. Situated in a marshy river valley on the E bank of the Nenagh River, c. 20m from the river's edge. A field boundary extending E-W is adjacent to the S side of the site with a small wooden footbridge across a field ditch. The well is keyhole-shaped with a funnel (L c. 2m) leading into the well proper (Wth 1.4m; D 0.95). The sides are crudely cut from clay and there is no stonework visible. The site is overgrown with brambles and obviously neglected. According to the OS Namebooks the well was 'resorted to by the peasantry each Saturday night after sun set or before sun rise for the cure of corporal diseases, principally head aches or sore eyes which it is said to have the power of curing, also weakly children when dipped in this well are said to thrive, or give up their existence immediately after' (OS Name Books, c. 1840). Situated on flat pasture with good views in all directions. The site consisted of a roughly circular arrangement of six to eight charcoal-rich posts/pits, with a number of associated fire spots. The approximated dimensions of this circular area was 6m x 7m. Approximately 24m to the E there was a short linear feature consisting of charcoal and burnt clay (L 6m; Wth 0.2m) which revealed sherds of burnt, prehistoric pottery and a small fragment of curved sheet bronze (O'Brien 2000, 200).
