Situated on a gentle W-facing slope, this well flows W into Drish River. The precise location is difficult to ascertain as a pump-house, water tank and well (Wth 1.25m) with concrete lining have been constructed at this location. Presumably the well is the site of the holy well but there is nothing to indicate a religious tradition associated with this site. The holy well was the focus of a pattern on the feast of the Assumption on 15th August, the men visiting the well in the morning and the women in the evening. A stone, formerly placed at the right-hand side of the gate entering Lady's Well from the Mill Road, was usually struck three times in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Coins were thrown into the well and rags were hung on a nearby bush (O'Neill 1976, 62). Visiting the well grew less common after 1848 when a company of soldiers were stationed in the locality causing clashes between the military and the pilgrims visiting the well (ibid). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Listed in the SMR (1992) and RMP (1998) as an archaeological complex. Field inspection established that this is an eighteenth/nineteenth-century mill complex and associated bridge is 18th/19th century date with cut-stone arches. Not an antiquity. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008 - TN041-065001: Bridge, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTN041-065001-. Listed in the SMR (1992) and RMP (1998) as a bridge possible based on its designation on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. Bridge situated on Poulaneigh River. Marked on 1st (1843) ed. as 'Old Mills Br.' though not titled on 2nd (1952-53) ed. Bridge appears to be of 18th or early 19th century date with cut-stone arches. Not an antiquity. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008 - TN041-065002: Mill - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTN041-065002-. Listed in the SMR (1992) and RMP (1998) as a mill possible based on its designation on the OS 6-inch maps. Situated on N bank of Poulaneigh River. Mill marked as 'Old Corn Mill' on 1st (1843) ed. Mill building still stands with much of its machinery still in situ, though in delapidated condition. Mill appears to be of eighteenth/nineteenth century date. The name 'Manor Mills' may suggest that earlier mills utilised this site, however the present mill is a non-antiquity. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008 - TN041-065003: Mill - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CTN041-065003-. Listed in the SMR (1992) and RMP (1998) as a mill possible based on its association with a possible early bridge and mill. Situated on N bank of Poulaneigh River. Site marked as 'Tuck Mill(s)' on 1st (1843) ed. OS 6-inch map but not indicated on 2nd (1952-53) ed. No visible trace of this particular mill building above ground. The other structures in this complex are of eighteenth/early nineteenth-century date. There is no evidence to suggest this mill was ever earlier than the rest of the complex.
