Situated on a very gentle S-facing slope in lush meadow. A possible circular enclosure identified on an aerial photograph taken in 1974 (GSIAP, S 589/8). No visible trace of enclosure at ground level. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). Listed in the SMR (1992) as a dwelling and in the RMP (1998) as a dwelling possible site. According to OS Namebooks there were 'the ruins of an old manor house [Roskeen House]' (O'Donovan, J. et al c.1840). Roskeen house appears to be nineteenth-century in date with ruins of a house/building to S of the present house which has original brick window surrounds.
