In pasture, on top of W-facing slope, in foothills of Slievenamon. Excellent views of Slievenamon mountain to W. Circular area (diam. 35m) defined by low earthen bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.8m; Wth 5.95m). External fosse (Wth 4.2m; D 0.45m) NW-NE and traces of fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.25m) NE-E-S-W-NW. Depicted on 1840 OS 6-inch map as adjoining enclosure (TS071-028----) to N, now separated by road (long-axis E-W) as per 1904 edition map. In pasture, near foot of a S-facing slope. Sub-circular area (c. 30m N-S; c. 32m E-W) depicted on the 1904 edition OS 6-inch map bisected by field boundary (long-axis WNW-ESE). No visible surface trace to N side of field boundary. Remains of semi-circular area (dims. 35m WNW-ESE; 16m SSW-NNE) defined by earthen bank ESE-S-WNW, covered in impenetrable vegetation. Straight side is defined by stone wall (Wth 1.2m) field boundary. Interior to N is incorporated into field as pasture and to S is fenced off from cattle and covered in tussocks. On a SE-facing slope at the base of Slievenamom. Field reclaimed and under pasture. Ringfort (TS071-027----) visible 1.3km to E. Enclosure partially outlined by field boundaries on 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map and depicted as a large roughly oval-shaped enclosure on 2nd (1901-05) ed. Monument has been levelled, however, undulations in the field appear to be the partial remains of the ploughed out enclosure. Though no clear pattern was discernible a much flattened broad curving bank (Wth c. 14m; int. H 0.05m; ext. H 0.67m) was visible in the SE quadrant of the enclosure. OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure. Enclosure has been levelled with no visible trace at ground level. Field boundary to N has also been removed. On top of low ridge in undulating terrain, under grass. Field to S under tillage. Ringfort under grass. Circular area (diam. 37.9m N-S; 37.1m E-W) defined by round-topped earthen and stone bank (Wth 2.4-2.6m crest, 4.9m base; int. H 0.55-0.43m; ext. H 1.05-1.17m - dimensions for N and S quadrants respectively). Entrance (Wth 2.7m) in E quadrant. Boulders strewn around bank, mostly appear to be as a result of clearance activity. Interior undulating with two depressions towards the centre in NW quadrant, the larger towards the NW bank has been deliberately excavated (dims. 5m x 5.2m; D 0.5m). Old feeding ring towards S bank, with waterlogged pool adjacent. Another small pool adjacent to NW quadrant. Slight scarp in E quadrant drops towards the entrance, within this slight depression a mound of cut gorse has been deposited. Field boundaries which ran N and S of ringfort have been removed. In flat terrain at base of gentle S-facing slope. Stream flows into fosse at SE angle. Moated site surrounded by pasture to E and S, tillage to N and abandoned, partially built sileage pit to W. Interior heavily planted with conifers, only outer edge of monument is accessible. Moated site defined by slight bank (Wth 1.3m crest, 1.7m base; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.8m), largely reduced to scarp (H 1.65m), except at angles and along W side. Steep drop to wide, flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 2.26m; D 0.77m) which channels the nearby stream and springs which appear to rise in the fosse in NE and NW quadrants. Counterscarp is also steep, though on the N side it has become a dumping area of large boulders and other refuse including sileage wrap and on the W side is augmented by upcast from the excavated sileage pit. Scarp at W end of N side is reduced in height, possibly cattle trampled before interior was planted. Along W side the fosse has been narrowed considerably by slippage from the augmented counterscarp. A stone wall cuts across the fosse at the N end of the W side and a less substantial rubble stone wall cuts across the fosse at the N end of the E side. On an E-facing slope in valley at base of Slievenamon, in reclaimed pasture. Identified on aerial photograph (Air Corps V.312/3080-79) as a circular enclosure. Monument not depicted on 1st (1840) or 1901-05 ed. OS 6-inch map and was probably levelled before 1840. However, the monument is still visible as a circular area (diam. 60m N-S; 63m E-W) enclosed by a low bank (Wth 5.8m; int. H 0.9) which is defined by scarp in N sector (H 0.4m).
