Situated on a knoll of outcrop, overlooked by a higher knoll c. 100m to the E, in a small valley. Described in Civil Survey of (1654-6) as 'an old castle and bawne the walls onely standing' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 303). Several landowners are listed as proprietors, including 'Sr Nicholas White of Leaslipp in the County of Killdare Knight Irish Papist[,]Marcus Magragh of Bleane in the Barrony of Upp Ormond Esqr.[,]Daniell Kenedy of Bollycregane Irish Papists' (ibid.). Little survives of this site above ground. It was bulldozed in 1985 to provide stone for the construction of a silage pit. Portion of E wall remains (T c. 0.8m) - the internal face has collapsed and the external face retains a mound of clay and collapsed masonry. The lower section of a doorway remains in situ and the area is strewn with architectural fragments which have punch dressing. There is no visible trace of the bawn (TN014-001002-) above ground. Situated just off the crest of a S-facing slope in pastureland. Depicted as a circular enclosure on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. An irregularly-shaped raised area, as indicated on the 1901-05 ed. defined by a bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.33m), largely reduced to a scarp and a shallow outer fosse (Wth 3.5m; D 0.15m) and counterscarp. The external face of the bank at N has a stone revetment and stone boulders protrude from the external face of the scarp at E. Possible causeway in N sector, however, boulders and stones have been dumped into the fosse here. The site is very overgrown making detailed examination impossible. ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage)

- Saint David's, gate lodge, 1850–1880, Regional interest, registry number 22401401, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=TN&regno=22401401. Detached three-bay single-storey gate lodge with attic, built c.1865, having gable-fronted projecting porch and with lean-to return to rear. Now in use as house. Pitched slate roofs with brick chimneystack, ridge crestings and timber bargeboard to porch. Roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed windows with pointed-arch window over entrance door, all with stone sills, render surrounds and timber windows with round-headed glazing. Four-centered-arch opening in porch leading to recessed timber battened half-door. Cast-iron railings and gate to front of site.
- Saint David's, hunting/fishing lodge, 1800–1840, Regional interest, registry number 22401402, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=TN&regno=22401402. Detached irregular-plan multiple-bay single and two-storey hunting lodge, built c.1820, remodelled c.1860. Now in use as restaurant and guest house. Comprising three-bay two-storey block with dormer windows and porch addition, lower two-bay single-storey block with gabled dormers to northwest, and single-bay single-storey addition with three-bay sides to southeast and further blocks to northeast. Hipped and pitched slate roofs with rendered chimneystacks, including triple offset stacks. Dormer windows and gables with carved bargeboards and timber and cast-iron finials, cast-iron rainwater goods and ridge crestings. Rendered walls. Timber sliding sash windows, some double, mainly one-over-one pane with some two-over-two pane to first floor and return, with stone sills throughout. Four-centered arch window openings to ground floor and square-headed and pointed to first floor. Timber panelled double-leaf door to entrance porch. Lawns around house.
