Situated on a low hillock in undulating countryside. The present remains consist of a raised platform (H 1m; diam. approx. 30m) defined by a scarp with no evidence of an entrance feature. According to the local farmer the site originally consisted of a circular area enclosed by an earth and stone bank which he altered and converted into a raised platform by dumping top soil into the centre of the fort. Detached L-plan corn mill, built c.1780, comprising three-bay five-storey block with three-bay four-storey block attached to rear, north side and having multiple-bay two-storey block attached to west. Scar of former two-storey with attic block to east end of front block. Half-hipped corrugated-iron roof to front block, hipped to rear block, pitched to west block and with eaves course to higher blocks. Rubble limestone walls, roughcast rendered most of front and part of rear of structure. Square-headed openings with cast-iron lattice windows and some timber sliding sash windows, all with limestone sills. Timber battened doors, including integral carriage arch to front elevation. Remains of chutes from openings to west elevation Timber water-wheel to east end of lowest block. Former miller's house is three-bay two-storey with pitched slate roof.
