Situated on gentle E-facing slope, in undulating pasture, with extensive views to N, E and SE. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as an oval-shaped earthwork. Bivallate enclosure described in 1971 as an oval-shaped area (dims. 35m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) enclosed by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The substantial inner bank is badly eroded by livestock at SE, WSW and NW. A deep U-shaped intervening fosse and an outer bank are visible from SE-S-W-N. A gap (Wth at top 6.7m; basal Wth 3.5m) in the inner bank at ENE presumably represents the entrance. The interior has a gentle ENE-facing slope. There is a large quarry hole outside the monument at NW, which is also depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. According to a subsequent field report from 1977, the monument has recently been defaced by bulldozing and large gaps have been cut in the bank at E and W. Some sandy soil has been dumped into the fosse at N and into an old quarry hole at NW. The interior has mostly been bulldozed and only a small segment in the N and S sectors remain undisturbed. Levelled monument is barely visible today as an oval-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Situated on gentle E-facing slope, in undulating pasture, with extensive views to N, E and SE. Monument described in 1971 as located in the NW quadrant of a ringfort (WM027-037----) there is a subrectangular-shaped house site (dims. L 2.2m; Wth 2.6m) defined by a slight earthen bank (H 0.45m). The S end of the house site is open. A subsequent field report from 1977, describes the interior of the ringfort as having recently been bulldozed and only a small segment in the N and S sectors remain undisturbed. No surface remains visible today of levelled ringfort or house site on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Situated on a slight SE-facing slope, in gently undulating pasture, with good views to NE and SE. Annotated 'Fort' on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map and depicted as a roughly circular-shaped earthwork delimited by a bank. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as a suboval-shaped earthwork. Levelled monument described in 1971 as a subcircular-shaped area (dims. 36.5m N-S; 33m E-W) enclosed by faint traces of a low earthen bank (int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.3m; overall Wth 5m; Wth at top 1.3m) with traces of an external fosse (overall Wth 4m; basal Wth 1m; D 0.15m). A modern fence running NW-SE skirts the outside of the bank from S-W. The original entrance is not recognisable. Levelled monument is visible today as a subcircular-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe aerial photography. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
