- WM038-033: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CWM038-033----. Situated on a low rise, in pasture, with good views of the surrounding landscape. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a subcircular-shaped earthwork (dims. 43m N-S; 45m E-W) cut across the W sector by a field boundary running roughly N-S with a small square-shaped enclosure or structure adjoining the E side, in the NW quadrant of the ringfort. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area enclosed by an earth and stone bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. A house site (WM038-033001-) is visible in the NW quadrant. The monument is densely overgrown making close examination difficult. According to a field report of 1977, the W sector of the monument has been levelled to W of the field boundary running N-S. According to local information the ringfort was levelled in the early 1980s (pers. comm. Hugh Carey 17/07/1997). Levelled monument is visible today as a vague outline of a roughly circular-shaped earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography which abuts a modern house plot to W. Situated on a low rise, in pasture, with good views of the surrounding landscape. In NW quadrant of ringfort (WM038-033----) are the remains of a small square-shaped house site defined by stone walls. The walls are surrounded by loose stone which probably represents collapse from the upper walls. The monument is densely overgrown rendering close examination difficult. Situated on top of a rise, in undulating pasture, with good views to NE and W, obscured to S by a large ridge running E-W. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a small roughly circular-shaped feature annotated ‘Cloghstuck’. Monument described in 1979 as no surface remains visible of a standing stone at this location. The stone has been removed and there is no indication of its former position on the surface. A short stretch of field fence running NW-SE to W of the stone, as shown on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map, has also been removed. A large triangular-shaped block of limestone (approx. L 2m; Wth 1m; T 0.75m) which is lying prostrate against the field fence to NE may be the ex-situ standing stone.
