- WM024-124: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CWM024-124----. Situated on top of a rocky knoll, in gently undulating pasture, with good views in all directions. The enclosing element of the ringfort from N-E-SE forms the townland boundary with Carn. Ringfort described in the 1970s as an oval-shaped area (dims. 52m E-W; 39m N-S) enclosed by a substantial bank of earth and stone from SE-S-W-N. It is wide and steep and has the remains of both internal and external stone facings, which are much disturbed. The bank is replaced by a stone wall from NE-ESE which follows the line of the townland boundary. There are indications of an outer fosse. The surrounding fields have been cleared of stones and some of them have been filled against the base of the bank. No clear entrance feature visible. The interior rises steeply and unevenly from the perimeter towards the centre and is largely obscured by dense scrub. There is a laneway outside the perimeter of the ringfort from E-ESE. Situated on a prominent, rocky knoll, in undulating pasture. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a large circular-shaped earthwork (approx. diam. 57m) and shown as a partial enclosure on the revised editions of the OS 6-inch maps. Monument described in 1971 as the remains of a very large circular-shaped area enclosed by a bank visible from NNE-E-S-SW and reduced to a scarp elsewhere with vague traces of an external fosse. The interior rises gently from the perimeter towards the centre and is largely obscured by dense vegetation. The ringfort is bisected by a post-1700 field boundary running N-S. Situated on top of a steep, rounded knoll, in pasture, with good views in all directions. Monument described as an oval-shaped area (approx. diam. 39m) enclosed by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank with entrance gap at SE. The earth and stone bank is high and steep and is almost reduced to a scarp. It has been broken down by cattle in several places. There are vague traces of an intervening fosse from S-W-N. There is a low outer bank from S-W-N which has been reused as a field boundary from SW-W-N. A field boundary runs along the base of the outer bank from E-SE. The interior rises slightly from the perimeter towards the centre. The monument is largely inaccessible due to dense vegetation. Modern walls encroach on the site. Situated on a low rise, in pasture, with good views to E, S and W. Monument described as an oval-shaped area enclosed by a stone wall and a bank. The ruined stone wall is visible from N-E-S and a low bank of earth and stone encloses the monument from SW-W-NW. There is no external fosse or entrance feature visible. The 1979 report records that the interior of the monument had been levelled in relatively recent times. A ruined building is located to SE. No surface remains visible today of levelled site on Digital Globe aerial photograph. Not depicted as an antiquity on any edition of the OS 6-inch map. Depicted as a polygonal shaped field (approx. diam. 45m N-S) attached to W end of farm house to SE on 1838 ed. OS 6-inch map.
