- WX014-020: Moated site, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CWX014-020----. Situated on a slight shelf in a low-lyiing landscape with a N-S stream c. 90m to the E and a smaller W-E stream c. 30m to the S. It is described as a rectangular area (dims. 44m N-S; 39m E-W) defined by earthen banks with a flat-bottomed external fosse or moat (Wth of top 5m; D c. 1.5m) and an outer bank. A leat led from the NE angle to the stream (OPW file). It has been removed since the 1970s. (Barrv 1977, 51–2, 216, WX 27) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). Situated on a slight S-N spur with SW-NE streams c. 150m to the NW and c. 250m to the SE. It was described in the 1940s (SMR file) as a circular overgrown area (diam. c. 25m) defined by a low earthen bank with an outer fosse, separated by a berm from an outer bank (int. H c. 1m; ext. H c. 1.5m), with traces of an outer fosse NE-S that was occupied by a farm lane elsewhere. Entrances at the N and SE were thought to be modern. It has been removed since the 1940s but an aerial photograph (CUCAP BGF 27) from the 1970s shows that it had three fosses.
