- WX031-017: Moated site, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CWX031-017----. Marked as a rectangular embanked or moated enclosure (ext. dims. c. 50m N-S; c. 30m E-W) missing its perimeter at W on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is located on a plateau at the bottom of a N-facing slope but overlooking the SW-NE Clonmore River that is c. 120m to the W and c. 150m to the N. This is a square grass-covered area (dims. c. 30m N-S x 30m E-W) defined by the slight dip of back filled moats that are only visible on the N (Wth 10m; D 0.3m) and E (Wth 3m; D 0.1m) sides. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). First noted on the website http://breeheritage.ie. Situated in a col on a NE-SW ridge between a hill in Ballymorris c. 1km to the SW and ground that is slightly higher than the location c. 300m to the NE, but with lower ground to the NW and SE.
