Marked as a rectangular wooded area (dims. c. 35m N-S; c. 35m E-W) containing a circular embanked enclosure on the 1839 edition of the OS 6-inch map, and as a rectangular hachured feature on the 1940 edition. It is situated on a slight rise in a gentle E-facing slope in the valley of the NW-SE River Lask, with the stream c. 370m to the NE. It was recorded in 1940 as a subrectangular area (dims c. 33.5m N-S; c. 30m E-W) defined by earthen banks (Wth c. 1.5-3m; int. H c. 0.8m; ext. H c. 1.5-2m) with no fosse (OSFM). It was described locally in 1987 as rectangular, raised area (H c. 1m) with a fosse. It is not now visible at ground level in pasture but is visible as the cropmark of a rectangular enclosure (dims c. 38m NNW-SSE; c. 36m ENE-WSW) defined by fosses or moats (Wth c. 2m) on Google Earth (14/07/2018). Lancet window openings with cut-granite surrounds having chamfered reveals framing fixed-pane fittings having stained glass margins centred on lattice glazing bars. Hipped slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on pitched slate roof (west) with lichen-covered clay ridge tiles, paired cement rendered central chimney stacks having concrete capping supporting terracotta pots, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on slightly overhanging slate flagged eaves. Slate hung walls on rendered chamfered plinth; roughcast surface finish to rear (west) elevation. Central door opening into presbytery. Square-headed window openings with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash windows.
