Depicted as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) described as 'Site of R.C. Chapel' on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated in a quarry on a steep wooded and NW-facing slope down to a SW-NE stream which is c. 20m distant. This is a rectangular area (dims. 10.5m E-W; 5m N-S) partly dug into the quarry face at the W end with slight traces of a wall foundation on the N side. There is no evidence of an enclosure or burial at ground level. It is probably a penal chapel. Situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape with a W-E stream c. 70m to the S and a S-N stream c. 110m to the E. This is a rectangular scrub and furze-covered area (dims. 27.5m E-W; 22.5m N-S) defined by low banks (at E: Wth 6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.8m) and external fosses or dry moats (at E: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 3m; D 0.6m) on every side except the N where there is a scarp (H 1m). Killegney motte (WX024-043----) is c. 280m to the ENE and Killegney church (WX024-045001-) is c. 300m to the SE on the other side of the S-N stream. The Duffry was granted was granted by Strongbow to Robert de Quency and it descended through the marriage of his daughter, Maud, to Philip de Prendergast to that family. Gerald de Prendergast held Dufferth together with Ayrmellach by 9 knights fees in 1247 and in 1324 Ineschorthy (Duffry) was held by Maurice de Rupe. Around 1425 the heir of John Rochford held the barony of Duffry (Brooks1950, 129-131). This motte was probably built by a Prendergast knight or tennant. It is located at the W end of a low E-W ridge with a slight E-W valley just to the S. There is a S-N stream c. 160m to the W, which turns NE around the base of the ridge. This is a flat topped mound (diam. of top 22m; diam. of base 35m; H 5.5m at S to 3.8m at N) in mixed woodland with a slight berm (Wth 1.5-2m) separating it from a fosse (Wth of top 7m; int. D 0.8-1.8m; ext. D 0.5m at S to 1.4m at N). Beyond the fosse a berm (Wth c. 10m) rises up (H c. 1.5m) to the level of the surrounding land (max. ext. diam. c. 80m). Killegney church site (WX024-045001-) is c. 300m to the SW, and moated site (WX024-042----) is c. 280m to the WSW, across the stream. A paved area was encountered in digging on the motte (Harte 1925, 103). Described as ‘Lady’s Well’ in Gothic script on the 1839 and 1925 eds of the OS 6-inch map and situated in the shallow valley of a S-N stream, which is c. 90m to the W. The well was the source of a stream that ran N for c. 240m before joining the main watercourse, but there is no evidence that it was venerated. The well is no longer present but a drain still exits. Situated on a slight rise in a fairly level landscape with a S-N stream c. 150m to the W and a small E-W valley just to the N. This is the site of the parish church of Killegney on an earlier monastic foundation. Although Killegney was part of the Prendergast fief of Duffry, it was given to the Bishop of Ferns in 1228 in exchange for other lands, probably because it was ancient church land (Hore, 1900-11, vol. 6, 343). According to a Visitation by Thomas Ram, the Protestant bishop of Ferns, in 1615 Henry Reigly was the priest of Killawgy, Robert Cleere the curate, and the church and chancel were in repair (ibid. vol. 6, 266, 270). The church site is within a D-shaped graveyard (dims. c. 60m E-W; c. 35m N-S) defined by earthen banks and hedges. The church is described as 'in ruins' on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6 inch map but, although not an ancient structure, it had been used for Protestant worship until 1827 when a new church was built in Castleboro Demesne c. 3 km to the ENE (Lewis 1839, vol. 2, 137). All the ivy-covered walls (T 0.6m) survive to roof level, except the E wall, and are probably 18th century in date (ext. dims. 13.55m E-W; 7.22m N-S). There is a brick-lined doorway in the W wall. There is no evidence of or documentation on an older church building but the graveyard is within a large ecclesiastical enclosure (max. ext. dim. c. 250m E-W) visible as a cropmark NE-S-SW of the graveyard on aerial photographs (MM (54) 30-6; WX 98, 5-8) and digital aerial photographs (WX024-045_1 to _9). An inner enclosure (diam. c. 120m) is also visible NE-S-SW of the graveyard, and elements of a field system consisting of at least two rectangular fields (dims. c. 40m x c. 40m) are visible overlying the ecclesiastical enclosure S of the graveyard. The site of Lady's Well (WX024-044----) is c. 100m SW of the church and Killegney motte (WX024-043----) is c. 300m to the NE. The moated site (WX024-042----) is on the other side of the S-N stream, c. 280m to the NW. Set in unkempt grounds with benchmark-inscribed lichen-spotted cut-granite monolithic piers to perimeter supporting flat iron "farm gate".

Detached three-bay two-storey over basement farmhouse, extant 1798, on a T-shaped plan originally three-bay two-storey on a rectangular plan with single-bay (three-bay deep) two-storey central return (east). Occupied, 1911. Extended, pre-1921, producing present composition. Now disused.
