Situated on a gentle S-facing slope. During the 1798 Rebellion the rebels camped for a while on Carrickbyrne Hill and kept almost 200 suspected loyalists in a barn at Scullaboge House. Stragglers from the battle of New Ross reported the losses of the rebels and the guards at Scullaboge burnt the barn with its occupants, almost all of whom perished. They were buried at the Church of Ireland churches at Templeshelin and Old Ross (WX030-053002-) where there is a memorial. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
