Agreement was reached between the developer and the National Monuments Service that these features could be preserved in situ, covered with geotextile and sand prior to the total reinstatement of the field, having been lightly cleaned, planned and recorded. The features, in the main, would appear to represent aspects of a severely truncated prehistoric landscape. The most substantial remains are the traces of a subcircular foundation trench, 4.9m by 5m in diameter. The trench is likely to be quite shallow, given the level of truncation over this area as a result of deep ploughing. This feature would appear to represent the remains of a small, prehistoric house. The other features are far more ephemeral in nature, being largely small, amorphous spreads and deposits and occasional areas of localised burning. The absence of any diagnostic material from the site renders it difficult to date the activity (Bennett 2007, 475-6). Detached eight-bay part two part single-storey public house, built c.1860 but much renovated and extended in the later 20th century. The main five-bay section of the pub is two-storey, but its roof is of differing levels, suggesting it may once have been two properties, or that part of the roof may have been raised at some point. To both the east and the west ends are single-storey sections, that to the west added c.1990. The façade is finished in painted render with moulded surrounds to the first floor windows and keystones to some of the ground floor openings, whilst the gable-ended pitched roof is covered in artificial slate with rendered chimneystacks. The entrance is to the main two-storey section and consists of a replacement panelled timber door. The windows are flat-headed with most of those to the ground floor enlarged. All have timber replacement frames of various description, most with top-hung openers. uPVC rainwater goods. Detached multiple-bay single-storey school house, built in 1931. The building is roughly U-shaped with projecting wings to the south, and has a vague Arts & Crafts appearance. The façade is in semi-coursed rubble stone with roughly dressed granite quoins and brick dressings to the openings. There is a rusticated cut-limestone date stone inscribed: "Scoil Naomh Iosep/Scoil Náisiúnta/Ráth Naoi/1931". The overhanging pitched roof is mainly gable-ended with a small section between the south projections hipped. The entire roof is slated, and has a rendered chimneystack to west and plain bargeboards. The main entrance is to the east elevation and consists of a partly glazed replacement timber door with three pane rectangular fanlight and stone steps. The windows are all flat-headed and of various sizes but with many arranged in groups of three. All have replacement uPVC frames and stone sills.
