The walls are roughly coursed (H 0.5-1m) with no indication of a doorway. Situated at a break in a gentle N-facing slope. Rectangular enclosure (dims. 45m E-W; 40m N-S) defined at the N (Wth 8.7m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 2m), E and W (Wth 3-4.5m; H 0.7-1.1m) by an earthen bank; no bank survives on the S side which is bordered by the field boundary. There is a church (WI036-017001-) at the centre of the interior. Shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a rectangular enclosure around the church and recorded as '(Site of) Chapel and Raheen'. No indication of a fosse or entrance. Situated on a gentle NE-facing slope between a stream and the Redcross River. Shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a large enclosure (diam. c. 100m), and indicated by a curved field boundary on the 1907 map, the site appears to have been levelled in the recent past. A cylindrical granite block (58cm x 59cm across; H 30-36cm) with a circular basin (max. diam. at top 40cm; max. diam. at base 38cm; D 14-15cm). The basin has near vertical sides and the rim varies from flat to rounded. There is no drain hole. Reputed to have been found at the ancient church site at Chapel, it is now held privately (see WI036-033---- for present location record).
