Curved gate screen to roadside with rock-faced granite piers, roughcast rendered quadrant walls and cast-iron gates. - Saint Patrick's Church (Powerscourt), church/chapel, 1850–1860, Regional interest, registry number 16302052, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=WI®no=16302052. Detached gable-fronted vaguely ‘Early English’ style church of 1859 by John Norton, with three-stage corner tower with broach spire to north-east, five-bay nave, transept and porch to south and curved chancel to east. The façade is in random granite rubble with dressed sandstone to openings, dressed granite quoins and low bevelled base course. The pitched roof is slated with alternate bands of Bangor blue and Westmoreland slate to the nave, whilst the spire is clad in copper. The pointed arch windows have stone tracery generally forming paired lancets with roundels and are mainly filled with leaded lattice panes. Pointed arch doorways with timber double doors set in reducing reveals with drip stones over. Decorative outer half door to porch. Clasping buttresses, slit windows and larger louvered pointed arch belfry level windows to tower. Granite parapets with stone and cast-iron cross finials. Cast-iron rainwater goods with decorative hoppers. Graveyard to south side. Detached four-bay single-storey gate lodge, built c.1830 but remodelled c.1880 and now the rectory for neighbouring St Patrick’s Church of Ireland church. Roughly U-shaped in plan, the façade is in unpainted roughcast with the hipped roof covered in asbestos tiles. Gabled porch to front, has panelled timber door and rectangular fanlight set in partly bevelled stone reveal. The porch is flanked by canted hipped roof bays of differing size, each with flat-headed windows with timber sash frames and stone sills. Detached multiple-bay two-storey house, built c.1780 originally rectangular in plan but with later informal additions to either end forming the present roughly L-shaped building. The façade is rendered and largely painted, with six over six Georgian-paned sash frames to most of the flat-headed windows; stone sills. The pitched roof is slated and the chimneys rendered. The original central section of the house is lower and has a large glazed gabled porch of c.1950 over the original entrance. The wing to the west, which is considerably taller and has a rendered parapet to front, appears to have been built in two stages, possibly c.1840-1850, whilst that the east side, added at the same date or later, is gable-fronted. Detached three-bay two storey former house, built c.1875, but possibly incorporating the fabric of an earlier building. The property was converted to a hotel and greatly extended in the later 20th century. The façade of the original section is rendered and painted, whilst the hipped roof is slated and has an overhang supported on curved timber brackets. The flat-headed windows have timber sash frames and stone sills and the entrance is set within a centrally positioned mainly glazed gabled porch. To the east side of the south-facing front elevation is a full-height canted bay while to the west is a shallow single-storey square bay with hipped roof. The original two-storey rear return has been lengthened and merges with a large flat-roofed extension and a large single storey extension has been added to the east side. Detached three-bay part two part three-storey fanciful Gothic Revival rectory of c.1859 of informal composition with various gabled projections, possibly altered c.1915 when the present render and window frames may have been added. The façade is in painted render but may originally have been in stone. The roof is a complex mixture of pitched and hipped sections and is slated with red clay ridge tiles, small finials, moulded eaves courses and brackets to the overhang at the verges. The windows are largely flat-headed though there is a small number of pointed arch examples with most set in bevelled reveals without sills. The window frames are generally timber sash with bottom sashes plain and panes to top sashes arranged in a ‘block work’ manner. The pointed arch entrance is set within a two-storey gabled bay with diagonal buttresses and consists of a timber door with moulded reveal and drip stone. Tall rendered chimneystacks have moulded coping and matching octagonal pots. Detached five-bay single-storey house, built 1859. The building is finished in render with moulded dressings. To the south there are a series of later additions. The part glazed panelled door has a moulded surround and an advancing pedimented portico supported on Doric square and round columns. Windows are flat-headed with timber casement frames. The pitched roof is finished in natural slate with bracketed eaves and cast-iron rainwater goods. Chimneystacks are rendered with plain caps and clay pots.
