Situated on a steep W/SW-facing slope in rough ground with rock outcrop. Circular area (diam. 27m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.7-3m; H 0.7m) with slight traces of an external fosse at the E. The S portion of the site is traversed by an E-W field boundary. An oval mound of earth in the W quadrant represents spoil from the construction of a track which skirts the inner edge of the bank from the junction with the field boundary at SW and a modern gap at NE. On relatively level ground in the back garden of a private residence c. 5m S of a stream. An earthfast boulder (dims. 1.35m N-S; 1m E-W; H 0.25m) containing a single water-filled basin (diam. 0.35m; max D 0.5m) on the W side. Locally called the wart stone and still in use. Detached three-bay single-storey cruciform Catholic church, built in 1830, but with the original chancel / vestry projection to the east demolished c.1975 and replaced with a lower flat-roofed section. The walls are finished in painted lined render and the gable-ended pitched roof is slated with granite bellcote to the front (west) gable and cross finial to the south. The entrance sits within a small gabled porch and consists of a timber double door with segmental-arched fanlight over. The windows are pointed arch headed and are largely filled with stained glass. Cast-iron rainwater goods. The church is surrounded by a graveyard with a small freestanding bell "tower" to the north side. Internally the church contains a single space with largely plain plastered and painted walls, a timber lined ceiling with exposed cross brace trusses and a part timber part encaustic tiled floor. There are galleries above each of the three aisles, all with decorative pierced panels to the front. The bench pews are of c.1980. - House, 1830–1850, Regional interest, registry number 16400904, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=WI®no=16400904. Semi-detached three-bay two-storey former house, built c.1840, extended to the north by five bays in the later 20th-century and now in use as a public house. The façade is finished in painted render with moulded quoins (to one of the former houses only). A large veranda-like canopy stretches across roughly half of the front elevation. The hipped roof is slated and has rendered chimneystacks. The timber pubfront is to the south end of the front elevation and consists of two large windows with top-hung openers, flanking a double-door with fanlight. To the immediate north of this is the former house entrance, which consists of a panelled timber door with reeded pilaster jambs and an elliptical fanlight with decorative tracery. To the north end of the front elevation there is a large elliptical-headed carriage entrance with granite dressings and timber double doors. The windows are of various sizes and shapes but all are flat-headed and most have timber sash frames, some tripartite. Replacement uPVC rainwater goods. Various pub signs, projecting and otherwise. Semi-detached three-bay two-storey double-pile house, built c.1835, now in use as a house and public house. The façade is finished in painted lined render with moulded quoins and surrounds to the openings. The hipped roof is slated and has rendered chimneystacks. The house entrance consists of a replacement panelled timber door and elliptical fanlight with decorative tracery, all encased with a moulded surround with keystone. The small timber pubfront, (which was probably installed c.1890), is to the south side of the house entrance and consists of a window with replacement multiple-pane timber frame, a timber door, both encased with slender pilasters with decorative console brackets, and a timber signboard with cornice over. The windows are flat-headed and have replacement uPVC frames. Cast-iron rainwater goods. - Horse Shoe Cottage, forge/smithy, 1820–1840, Regional interest, registry number 16400906, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=WI®no=16400906. Semi-detached four-bay single-storey house with former blacksmith's forge, built c.1830, now in use solely as a house. To the front there is a small projecting lean-to porch, probably added in the mid 1900s. The façade is finished in lined render and painted, whilst the gable-ended pitched roof is slated and has a rendered chimneystack. The entrance is to the north face of the porch and consists of a mainly glazed timber door. The windows are flat-headed and have a mixture of one over one timber sash (with one bipartite) and replacement timber frames with top-hung openers. One of the windows sits within what was the doorway to the forge and the granite horseshoe architrave formerly belonging to the doorway, (which was probably added c.1870), has been retained.
