Detached four-bay one and a half-storey gate lodge, built c.1870. The house is constructed in ashlar granite. To the south side of the east elevation there is projecting gabled porch; the original door has been removed. The front door is now set within a later flat-roofed porch with a flat-headed opening. Window openings have stone surrounds and are flat-headed with lattice paned timber casement frames. The pitched roof is finished with natural slate and has cast-iron rainwater goods. The chimneystack has a chamfered coping and clay pots. The house is slightly set back behind a large gate screen with square pillars with tall pyramidal caps and wrought-iron gates. - Humewood Castle, country house, 1865–1870, National interest, registry number 16402701, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=WI®no=16402701. Detached multiple-bay part two, part three and part four-storey Gothic style country house built 1867-70 to designs by William White (1825-1900) and extended 1873-7 to designs by James Brooks (1825-1901). The building is very large and has an irregular plan form, with the main (largely three to four-storey) section of the house to the south and a long two-storey wing to the north, which merges with a complex of service buildings. Each elevation is composed of a multitude of bays, towers, gables, oriels, half dormers, buttresses and chimneybreasts rising into tall stacks, with crenellated parapets and string courses. The walls are largely constructed in rubble with dressed granite quoins and window surrounds. The roof is pitched and slated. Some of the towers have hipped roofs topped with metal finials. The entrance is to the south end of the east elevation and consists of a large pointed arch panelled timber double door with moulded reveal and drip stone. Directly above the door is a large elaborately carved panel with coats of arms. The entrance is set within a large port-cochere with large pointed arch-headed openings. The window openings are largely flat-headed and filled with timber casement or timber sash frames. A small number of windows have cusped heads, with some of these filled with stained glass. The house is set within an extensive demesne. - Humewood Castle, gate lodge, 1860–1880, Regional interest, registry number 16402702, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=WI®no=16402702. Detached three-bay gate lodge to Humewood Castle, built c.1870. The walls are constructed in squared granite whilst the slated gable-ended pitched roof has an overhang with exposed rafter ends and decorative bargeboards, and granite chimneystacks with bevelled bases and corbelling. The entrance consists of a timber door and segmental arch-headed fanlight with lattice panes. The entrance is flanked by hipped roof canted bays which have flat-headed windows with metal frames with swivel openers and lattice panes. Cast-iron rainwater goods. The lodge is sited at north-western gateway to the Humewood Castle demesne, next to a gate screen with cast-iron gates and railings with square granite piers with steep pyramidal caps (now damaged). - Humewood Castle, worker's house, 1860–1880, Regional interest, registry number 16402705, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=WI®no=16402705. Detached three-bay one and a half-storey head gardener's house, built c.1870, now disused. The building is roughly L-shaped in plan with a large full-height gabled bay, porch projection and canted bays to front. The walls are constructed in squared granite with dressed granite quoins and window surrounds, whilst the overhanging slated gable-ended roof has decorative bargeboards, exposed rafter ends and chimneystacks. The roof of the porch is hidden behind a parapet. The entrance is to the south face of the porch and consists of a timber tongue and groove door. To the south of the porch is a hip-roofed canted bay with flat-headed windows with one over one sash frames. To the north of the porch there is a similar bay. The rest of the windows are also flat-headed and have a mixture of timber sash and timber casement frames. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
