Situated beside the main entrance to Tinnapark House. Roughly circular enclosure (diam. 60m) consisting of a domed area (H 2m) defined by a bank (visible only as a cropmark) with a possible inturned entrance feature at the N, the latter visible on aerial photograph (CUCAP, BDJ 107). There is an external fosse (Wth 2-4m) which is connected to a field fosse to the N by two drainage channels. The site is shown as a polygonal tree-grown feature on the 1838 OS 6-inch map, and is probably a landscape feature. Situated on a low sand ridge in undulating terrain. In 1944, during ploughing, a stone lined grave orientated E-W was uncovered (Raftery 1944, 166-9). In 1963 and 1964 a further seven were discovered. These produced the inhumed remains of adults, all with their head at the W end. Detached five-bay two-storey house, built c.1820. The house is finished in render. The part glazed double front door has a semi-circular spider’s web fanlight and a projecting portico with Tuscan order columns. Window openings are flat-headed with six over six timber sash frames, the pitched roof is finished with natural slate and cast-iron rainwater goods. Chimneystacks are rendered with plain caps and clay pots.
