These structures (No’s. 182-299) and the associated OHL lie between where the OHL crosses the border into County Westmeath in the townland of Grange More, to where the OHL ties-in to the existing Mullingar 110kV substation in the townland of Irishtown, crossing the County Westmeath townlands of Grange More, Craddanstown, Joristown Lower, Priesttown, Clonreagh, Corbetstown, Higginstown, Hodgestown, Millerstown, Corbally, Edmondstown, Clonlost, Clonickilvant, Ballycor, Aghadaugh, Killynan (Cooke), Mountrobert, Macetown, Rathconnell, Clonsheever, Culleen Beg, Robinstown (Levinge), Ballyglass and Irishtown. The Proposed Development also includes 1 no. temporary Construction Compound in the townland of Aghadaugh. The refurbishment works in County Westmeath will consist of: the replacement (‘restringing’) of the existing OHL circuit conductor wires; the installation of fibre wrap; replacement of 7 no. steel towers and 73 no. wooden pole-sets/poles with similar dimensions and heights as the existing (replacement towers will be no more than 0.5m taller than existing and replacement pole-sets/poles will be no more than 3m taller than existing); installation of replacement parts on towers and pole-sets; foundation refurbishment / strengthening and recapping / clearing of shear blocks; treatment and painting of towers to be retained; all associated site development works, including temporary works areas; clearance of shear block bases; vegetation maintenance works; ancillary site preparation works, site clearance and levelling at the 1 no. temporary construction compound; temporary works to existing tracks and new temporary access routes to each structure, one of which is within the curtilage of Millerstown House (protected structure RPS No. 020-050), in the townland of Millerstown; and all associated works required to facilitate the Proposed Development A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application.
