  Description

  Ruined 2-storey mill built as Famine Relief Project in grounds of Corran House; later converted to creamery. Rectangular structure (24.45m N-S; 6.65m E-W), of two phase construction. Overshot iron waterwheel (diam. 6m; Wth 1.07m) in wheel pit along N gable. High stone wall carried launder to wheel.   Description

  N of Corran Lake. Circular area (diam. 20m N-S; 19m E-W) enclosed by stone walls (H c. 1m; Wth c. 0.5m). Cut by laneway from SW-E. (GSAP).   Description

  In pasture on hillside. McCarthy (1975, 59-60) describes four chambers, rock cut to height 1m; roofs earth cut. Some stone walling in chambers 1, 3 and 4. Chamber 1: L 3.5m; Wth 2.4m; H 2m. Chamber 2: diam. 2m; H 1.2m. Chamber 3: L 3.4m; Wth 2.1m; H 1m. Chamber 4: L 2.3m; Wth 1.7m; H 0.8m. No visible surface trace. • CO133-091 Crannog
  Description

  Close to the centre of Corran Lake, which is surrounded by low hills. It is marked by a clump of rushes which grow on its surface and which are visible from the lakeshore. The crannog was inaccessible and the following description is based on local information supplied by John Kearney and Patrick Cleary. A roughly oval flat-topped earthen mound (c. 11m N-S; c. 7m E-W; H c. 1.8m) with occasional stones noted on its surface is covered by c. 0.3m of water. Tree stumps were noted on the surface at NE and SE. Under the water timbers protrude intermittently from the almost vertical sides of the mound and a concentration of stones was observed at the base of the mound at SW. From the base of the mound there is a gradual slope down to a depth of c. 6m. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.   Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey former miller's house, built c.1820, with open porch to front (south) elevation. Now in use as private house. Hipped artificial slate roof with rendered chimneystack, uPVC rainwater goods and moulded eaves course. Painted rendered walls. Square-headed openings with six-over-six timber sliding sash windows and stone sills. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door, moulded timber lintel and sidelight. Porch comprising Doric columns and pilasters supporting frieze and cornice. Outbuildings to side (west). Eight-bay two-storey mill to site comprising pitched roof, rendered walls, square-headed openings and vertical mill wheel. Enclosed by rendered walls and gates piers with wrought-iron gates.
