  Description

  The 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch maps indicate a circular single-ringed enclosure here. There is no trace of it now. It was sited on a S-facing slope overlooking Lough Natooey South in an area of rock outcrop. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Architectural heritage

• Saint Michael's Catholic Church, church/chapel, 1965–1975 · National interest
  Description

  Freestanding double-height Catholic church (on fan-shaped plan), consecrated 1971, having baptistery, Blessed Sacrament chapel, projecting porch to the north-east, sacristy, confessionals and Marian chapel to perimeter. Sloping felt roof with domed skylight over altar, raised parapet, low felt roof to lower level, projecting concrete beam with spiked chain to south-east. Roughcast rendered walls; smooth rendered walls to rear elevation above clerestory level. Square-headed window openings at clerestory to west having aluminum windows. Square-headed openings to blessed sacrament chapel with splayed interior and coloured glass window inset, timber fixed window to Marian chapel. Square-headed door opening to east with concrete canopy over, and with battened timber doors flanked by etched glass sidelights. Polished concrete floor to interior, timber pews, bronze cross to altar with suspended bronze circular lighting ring over pews. Set back from road in elevated site to the north-west end of Creeslough with Muckish Mountain in the background to the west\north-west. Circular pool to east having spiky chain supported on black painted concrete lintel. Freestanding belfry to the north-east comprising bell metal bell, c. 1917, (from earlier chapel to the north) supported by steel I-beam frame. Squared and snecked rubble stone retaining walls to ramp and entrance plinth with stone paving. Detached contemporary single-storey parochial house (see 40813008) to the south. Set along road with pavement to east and parking to the south-west. Freestanding metal cross with circular ‘crown of thorns’ motif to the south-east of site.

• Bridge, 1900–1910 · Regional interest
  Description

  Single-arch former railway accommodation bridge, built c. 1903, carrying the former Letterkenny to Burtonport section of the Derry (Middle Quay) to Burtonport railway line over small private laneway. Railway lines now out of use with tracks removed (c. 1947). Segmental-headed arch having concrete voussoirs; squared and coursed mildly rock-faced rubble stone construction to arch barrel. Squared and coursed rubble stone piers with drafted margins flanking arch. Squared and coursed mildly rock-faced rubble stone construction to spandrels; rock-faced quoins to base of arch having drafted margins. Squared and coursed rubble limestone masonry to parapet to the north-west with rendered coping over. Modern repairs to parapet in places; parapet to south-east now demolished and replaced with metal tubular rail and wire mesh. Tarmacadam deck with grass verges. Located in the rural country side a short distance to the north-east of the centre of Creeslough.

  Description

  Freestanding cast-iron water hydrant, erected c. 1910, comprising fluted shaft on moulded base surmounted by fluted domed capping with acorn finial over, and having lion's head motif to spout. Pull lever to side. Foundry mark 'Glenfield & Kennedy Ltd, Kilmarnock' to shaft. Located to the north-west end of Creeslough adjacent to modern rendered gate pier.

  Description

  Detached multiple-bay single-storey parochial house on complex irregular-plan, built 1970-1, associated with St. Michael’s Catholic church (see 40813001), having projecting single-storey porch and garage block attached to the south. Flat roof with two roughcast rendered chimneystacks; projecting battered chimneystack to the north gable end. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills and replacement windows. Square-headed doorway to the north having replacement door. Square-headed garage to the east end of north elevation having pivoting aluminum garage door. Set back from road in own grounds adjacent to the south of St. Michael’s Catholic church, and to the north-west end of Creeslough. Lawned area to the east of building with tarmacadam forecourt and driveway to the north and north-east. Gateway to the north-east comprising a pair of rendered gate piers (on square-plan). Site bounded by timber fencing. Car park to the south-west. Flight of concrete steps to the north giving access to church grounds.

• Water pump, outbuilding, 1880–1920 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached single-bay single-storey gable-fronted structure, built c. 1900, probably formerly housing water pump. Pitched natural slate roof with clay ridge tiles. Partially rendered rubble stone walls. Pointed-arched opening to the south-west with no fittings. Square-headed doorway to the south-east elevation, now blocked. Road-fronted on footpath to the centre of Main Street, Creeslough. Located adjacent to two two-storey houses with rubble stone boundary wall to the north-east.
