  Description

  Description

  Internal diameter 34m E-W This site is situated immediately S of the Galey River, and good views are afforded in all directions. The Galey was widened and deepened a few years ago and the subsequent rubble dumped in the interior of this site, distorting the N sector completely. What remains today is a semi-circular area enclosed by an earthen bank which ranges from 1.8m-4.4m in width at the base. At its highest point it is 1.2m above the surrounding land and .8m above the interior. Very slight traces of an exterior fosse c 2m wide and .4m deep can be noted to the NE. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land. Contained in the W sector is a semi-circular rise 4.4m x 4m internally and .5m high, with a depression at the centre 2.9m in diameter and .3m deep, which suggests the existence of a souterrain (KE010-028001-).   Description

  Internal diameter 12m N-S, 13.5m E-W A small stream runs immediately S of this site, which is situated in the corner of a field. This site was very much levelled during 1976-77 and is now barely distinguishable above the ground. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a 4m wide earthen bank. • Bedford House, house, 1770–1810 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached seven-bay two-storey house, built c. 1790, now disused and derelict. Renovated, c. 1860, with single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch added. Extended to north-east, c. 1930, comprising five-bay single-storey lean-to return with corrugated-iron roof. Pitched and hipped slate roof with clay ridge tiles and having chimneystacks rising from rear eaves. Limestone ashlar façade with eaves cornice. Roughcast rendered rubble stone side walls with roughcast. Rubble stone base to north gable. Remains of mid-nineteenth century timber two-over-two panes sliding sash windows with limestone moulded sills, lintels and triple-keystones. No windows to rear wall. Projecting gabled porch with limestone stringcourse, c. 1860. Retaining interior features. Rubble walled enclosure to south-east. Farmyard buildings remodelled or rebuilt.
