• KE066-019 Souterrain
  Description

  In pasture, on a level area c. 100m N of a road. There are no visible remains of this souterrain though the ground in the immediate area is uneven. It was described in the 1850s (Hitchcock 1854, 2) as having an E-W passage, 'about 17 feet [5.18m] long' with an average breath of 'three feet [0.91m]' and an average height of 'four feet [1.21m]', leading via a creepway to a circular corbelled chamber. The passage was stone-built, but also partially rock-cut, and was roofed with lintels. The creepway measured 'two feet [0.6m] high by one and a half feet [0.45m] broad' and was partially rock-cut. The chamber measured 'five feet [1.52m] broad by six feet [1.82m] long' and 'about six feet [1.82m] high' and was roofed with lintels. It was also noted that some small bones and bone fragments were found in the chamber. In 1939 it was noted that the entrance to it was covered in (SMR file).   Description

  In level poorly drained pasture. A low dry mound (5m NE-SW; 2.5m NW-SE; H 0.5m) of burnt material, disturbed by drainage works to the W. There is a field boundary immediately to the E. Another burnt spread (KE066-026002-) is c. 100m to the W and a possible enclosure (KE066-026004-) c. 50m to the SW.   Description

  In poorly drained pasture, with natural springs. A spread (diam. c. 8m) of burnt material c. 25m S of the Douglasha stream. A burnt spread and a possible fulacht fia (KE066-026001-, KE066-026003-) are c. 100m to the E and W, respectively. A possible enclosure (KE066-026004-) is c. 30m to the SSE.   Description

  In pasture, on level ground. This possible enclosure is not visible at ground level. An arc W-SE of a possible circular enclosure (diam. c. 45m) is visible in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, V 393-4) taken in 1977. There are two burnt spreads (KE066-026001-, KE066-026002-) c. 50m to the NE and c. 30m to the NNW, respectively.   Description

  In poorly drained pasture, in a slight depression.
