  Description

  Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m). A townland boundary runs NW-SE immediately SW of the enclosure. It is not indicated on the 1899-1902 revision of the OS 6-inch map. On an aerial photograph (CUCAP AVL084, 15 July 1968) it is visible as the cropmark of a bank and outer fosse. Also visible as cropmarks on this aerial photograph are another roughly circular enclosure (KK024-050----) c. 130m to the E and the N portion of another enclosure (KK024-051----) c. 220m to the SE, as well as the cropmarks of modern field boundaries, indicated on the 1899-1902 map but subsequently levelled. A field boundary runs NE-SW through the S portion of the enclosure.   Description

  Indicated as an oval enclosure (dims. c. 40m NE-SW; c. 26m NW-SE) on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map on the S edge of a band (Wth c. 40m) of rough, scrubby terrain. A quarry (dims. c. 44m NW-SE x c. 20m NNE-SSW) is depicted c. 10m to the SW and another quarry (dims. c. 25m N-S x c. 30m E-W) c. 20m to the SE, immediately E of a field boundary running N-S. By the 1899-1902 revision of the OS 6-inch map the layout of the fields had changed, with the old field boundaries and the enclosure levelled. A field boundary now runs NE-SW through the enclosure, with another field boundary running NW-SE along the NE edge of the enclosure. The NW quadrant of the enclosure is visible as a cropmark of a deep well-defined fosse on Google Earth (imagery date 14 July 2018), identified by Simon Dowling.   In reclaimed pasture. Indicated as a subrectangular enclosure (dims. c. 48-50m NW-SE; c. 35-40m NE-SW) on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map with a field boundary with farm trackway running N-S through the centre of the monument. A field boundary runs E-W up to the S side from both the E and W and another runs S from the W end of the S side. The field boundary and trackway to the N have since been removed, as has the field boundary to the E (Google Earth satellite imagery, imagery date 8 June 2005).   Description

  A circular enclosure (diam. c. 46m) defined by a fosse, identified as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (GB91.EQ.31; 20 August 1991) and visible on satellite imagery (Google Earth, imagery date 14 July 2018). A curving public road runs NE-SW through the enclosure, the NW portion of the enclosure is visible on the satellite imagery. A relic stream, also visible as a cropmark, is located c. 280m to the ESE. Also visible as cropmarks are a rectilinear enclosure (KK024-119----) c. 190m to the W and a curvilinear enclosure (KK024-121----) c. 270m to the SE. • KK024-141 Enclosure - large enclosure
  Description

  In tillage. A slightly irregular large circular enclosure (diam. c. 80m) identified as a cropmark on Google Earth Pro imagery (imagery date 14 July 2018) by Jean-Charles Caillère and Simon Dowling. A field boundary runs roughly E-W along and into the interior of the S quadrant of the enclosure in a zig-zag fashion. The S edge of the enclosure is not visible as it is in an adjoining field with a different crop. An outer fosse, at a distance of c. 4m from the inner fosse, runs concentrically in the NW quadrant, widening in the N to a distance of c. 10m and continues to run towards the SE for a further c. 60m. It may turn towards the SW to form an annexe adjoining the E quadrant of the enclosure, but this is unclear from the cropmark.   Description

  In tillage. A possible rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 34m NW-SE; c. 15m NE-SW) visible as a cropmark on Google Earth (imagery date 14 July 2018), identified and reported by Simon Dowling. Only the S portion of the enclosure is visible, though presumably it continues N of the townland boundary which runs NW-SE through it, N of centre. If the enclosure continues N of the townland boundary is probably truncated by the road which runs immediately N of, and parallel to, the townland boundary. A field boundary, visible as a cropmark, runs NE-SW from the SW angle of the possible enclosure. It is truncated by a townland boundary which runs NW-SE through the NE quadrant and by the road which runs immediately N of, and parallel to, the townland boundary. • KK025-017 Enclosure
  Description

  Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as a trapezoidal-shaped enclosure (dims. c. 24m N-S; c. 20m E-W at N tapering to c. 12m at S). A quarry is shown running up to the E edge of the enclosure, with a sand pit adjacent to the N and a trackway is indicated running roughly N-S along the W side of the enclosure. The enclosure is not indicated on the 1900 revision but a field boundary is indicated where the trackway was on the 1st ed., with a kink in the boundary following the W side of the enclosure.   Gateway, c.1850, comprising pair of tooled limestone ashlar diagonal piers with cut-limestone stringcourses, moulded capping, wrought iron double gates having cast-iron finials, and random rubble stone flanking boundary wall to perimeter of site (including to avenue) with rubble stone vertical coping. Road fronted.
