Description
In pasture, located in lowlying ground, overlooked to N by a ridge. There is a W-flowing stream/drain c. 15m to N of the rath, and an expanse of damp ground to W is marked liable to flood on the 1838 and 1929 OS 6-inch maps. Slightly raised oval area (c. 30m E−W; 26m N−S) defined at SW−WSW by bank (Wth c. 2m; max. ext. H 0.75m) of earth and stone, reduced elsewhere to a low scarp. The interior slopes down slightly from N to S. A post and wire fence extends N−S through the interior just E of centre. There is another rath (MA090-089----) 140m to SE. Description
In pasture, located on ground, with ridges of higher ground to N, E and W. This rath consists of a slightly raised, roughly circular area (33m NE−SW; 31m NW−SE) defined by a bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.5m at SSE) of earth and stone. At W and N the bank is set on a low scarp, but no such scarp is evident at E and S. The bank is poorly preserved, with several eroded breaks. There is a broad gap (Wth 12m) at E, with a ramp like slope, which is not original. There is another rath (MA090-088----) 140m to NW. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 7 February 2018
