  Description

  Marked as a large oval embanked enclosure (ext. dims. c. 75m N-S; c. 65m E-W) on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and known locally as a 'lios' (Power 1887-8). It is situated at the crest of the W-facing slope of a low N-S ridge. The cropmark of a bivallate circular area (ext. diam. c. 70m) is visible on an aerial photograph (CUCAP, ASZ 50). The perimeter incorporates a field bank E-SE. Souterrain (WA018-013002-) was discovered in the bank at E. Power, Rev. P. (1887-8) Casey's 'lios', Ballygunnermore, Co. Waterford, JRSAI, vol. 18, 407. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).   Description

  Located in the bank of enclosure (WA018-013001-) at E, and destroyed c. 1888. Described as an oval chamber (dims. 3.8m N-S; 2.1m E-W; H c. 1.8m) roofed with lintels, with an entrance creep at N (Power 1887-8). It is not visible in the surviving bank. Power, Rev. P.   Situated on rock outcrop on the W shoulder of a knoll. There is only one reference to 'Cill Briocain' at 'Baile na Guaithe' stating that it was located just NE of a spot-height on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map (Power 1906a, 19).
