Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks, square rooflight, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Painted rendered, ruled and lined walls with rendered quoined piers. Square-headed window openings with stone sills, and 1/1 timber sash windows having margins. Rendered shopfront to ground floor with panelled pilasters, fixed-pane timber display window (in five-light arrangement) on panelled stall riser, timber panelled doors with overlights, and timber fascia over on consoles having moulded cornice. Road fronted with concrete footpath to front.

Pitched roof with replacement artificial slate, c.1975, clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Flat concrete roof to return behind parapet. Painted rendered walls with rendered quoins. Painted cement rendered walls to return with concrete coping to parapet. Square-headed window openings with stone sills. 3/6 and 6/6 timber sash windows. Detached three-bay double-height red brick Catholic chapel, built 1979, with single-bay single-storey porch to north-east. Mono-pitched copper-clad and flat concrete roofs behind parapets with concealed rainwater goods. Butterfly/Y-form felt roof to porch behind parapet. Red brick Running bond walls with curved corners and concrete coping to parapets. Square-headed window openings (some in tripartite arrangement) in recessed panels with red brick chamfered sills, concrete fins to tripartite openings, and unpainted roughcast panels over. Fixed-pane timber leaded stained glass windows. Square-headed continuous window opening forming clere-storey. Fixed-pane timber windows. Square-headed door opening approached by flight of five red brick curved steps with tongue-and-groove timber panelled double doors and overlight. Full-height interior open into roof with timber pews, wall-mounted inscribed limestone stations, and swept ceiling having tongue-and-groove timber panelling. Set back from line of road in shared grounds with red brick Running bond boundary wall to perimeter having wrought iron railings over.

Detached three-bay two-storey presbytery, c.1890, with single-bay two-storey canted projecting bay to left, two-bay two-storey parallel block to north-east incorporating entrance bay, and five-bay two-storey return to north-east. Refenestrated, c.1990. Pitched and hipped slate roofs (polygonal to canted projecting bay; gabled to centre return) with red clay ridge tiles (rolled lead ridge tiles to canted projecting bay), terracotta finials, cut-stone chimney stacks, cut-stone coping, and cast-iron rainwater goods on cut-stone eaves. Broken coursed squared red sandstone walls with cut-limestone dressings including quoins and stringcourses. Shallow segmental-headed window openings to ground floor (some paired) with cut-limestone sills, block-and-start surrounds having chamfered reveals, and voussoirs over forming relieving arches. Square-headed window openings to first floor with cut-limestone sills and block-and-start surrounds having chamfered reveals. Replacement uPVC casement windows, c.1990, to all openings. Paired trefoil-headed window openings to entrance bay in square-headed recessed panels with cut-limestone surrounds and tracery. Fixed-pane leaded stained glass windows. Round-headed door opening in shallow segmental-headed recess with cut-limestone block-and-start surround, hood moulding over, and cut-stone voussoirs. Replacement timber panelled double doors, c.1990, with leaded stained glass overlight. Set back from road in own grounds with tarmacadam forecourt.(ii) Gateway, c.1890, to south-west comprising pair of limestone ashlar piers with stringcourses and profiled capping, iron sheeted double gates with cross final, single limestone ashlar outer pier to south-east forming pedestrian gateway, and sections of broken coursed squared red sandstone flanking boundary walls.

Detached six-bay two-storey rubble stone building, c.1900, possibly originally school retaining original aspect comprising single-bay two-storey gabled advanced entrance bay with two-bay two-storey range to south-west, and three-bay double-height range to north-east. Now disused. Pitched slate roof (gabled to entrance bay) with clay ridge tiles, yellow brick Flemish bond chimney stack, timber bargeboards, and cast-iron rainwater goods on yellow brick Flemish bond eaves. Random rubble stone walls with lime mortar, and yellow brick quoins. Pair of lancet recessed niches to entrance bay with yellow brick surrounds. Square-headed window openings with stone sills, and yellow brick block-and-start surrounds. 2/2 and 6/6 timber sash windows with fixed-pane timber windows to double-height range having overlights, and most openings having wrought iron bars. Square-headed door opening with yellow brick block-and-start surround, and tongue-and-groove timber panelled door. Set in grounds shared with Saint Joseph’s House with rear (south-east) elevation fronting on to road.(ii) Attached five-bay single-storey rubble stone outbuilding, c.1900, to north-east. Now disused. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered coping, and no rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Random rubble stone walls with lime mortar, and red brick quoins to corner. Detached eighteen-bay three-storey convent with dormer attic, c.1900, on a complex plan comprising four-bay three-storey entrance block with two-bay three-storey advanced flanking bays, eight-bay three-storey lateral wing to south-west having two-bay three-storey advanced end bay, seven-bay three-storey side elevation to south-west, and five-bay three-storey elevated block to north-west. Renovated and mostly refenestrated, c.2000, to accommodate part use as nursing home. Hipped slate roofs (gabled to dormer attic windows) with clay ridge tiles, yellow brick Running bond chimney stacks, square rooflights, and cast-iron rainwater goods on yellow brick eaves. Unpainted rendered, ruled and lined walls with cut-limestone quoins to corners, cut-stone courses to each floor, and yellow brick band to eaves having moulded yellow brick cornice over. Shallow segmental-headed window openings to ground floor, segmental-headed window openings to first floor, and square-headed window openings to top floor on cut-limestone sill courses with yellow brick block-and-start surrounds. Replacement uPVC casement windows, c.2000, with some original 2/2 and 6/6 timber sash windows. Shallow segmental-headed door opening to first floor approached by flight of cut-stone steps on an L-shaped plan having wrought iron railings, cut-limestone block-and-start surround with chamfered reveals, hood moulding over, replacement timber panelled door, c.2000, and overlight. Set back from road in own grounds with landscaped grounds to site.(ii) Attached four-bay double-height Catholic chapel, c.1900, to north-west with single-bay single-storey flanking bays to north-east and to south-west, and single-bay double-height lower chancel to north-west on a polygonal plan. Pitched slate roofs (half-polygonal to chancel) with clay ridge tiles, cut-limestone chimney stacks, cut-stone coping with gabled bellcote to apex to south-east, and cast-iron rainwater goods on moulded yellow brick eaves. Unpainted rendered, ruled and lined walls (painted to flanking bays) with cut-limestone quoins, and yellow brick Flemish bond band to eaves having moulded cornice over. Lancet window openings with cut-limestone block-and-start surrounds having chamfered reveals, yellow brick dressings over, and fixed-pane leaded windows.

Detached three-bay two-storey presbytery, occupied 1901, on an L-shaped plan with two-bay (south) or single-bay (north) two-storey side elevations; three-bay two-storey rear (west) elevation. Occupied, 1911. Now disused. Hipped slate roof on an L-shaped plan with roll moulded clay ridge tiles, yellow brick Running bond chimney stacks having stringcourses below corbelled stepped capping supporting yellow terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on yellow brick header bond stepped eaves retaining cast-iron octagonal hoppers and downpipes. Rendered walls on yellow brick header bond chamfered cushion course on yellow brick Running bond plinth with yellow brick quoins to corners. Segmental-headed central door opening with two cut-limestone steps, bull nose-detailed timber mullions, and yellow brick block-and-start surround framing timber panelled door having sidelights on panelled risers below overlight. Segmental-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and yellow brick block-and-start surrounds framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors; and timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Set in shared grounds.

Painted rendered walls with yellow brick quoins to corners, yellow brick band to eaves having saw-tooth profiling, and rendered parapet to entrance bay having cut-stone coping. Random rubble stone walls to side (north-east) and to rear (south-east) elevations. Pointed-arch window openings with cut-stone sills, yellow brick block-and-start surrounds, and yellow brick stringcourse to spring of arches. Fittings not visible behind louvered timber panelled external shutters. Pointed-arch door opening with yellow brick surround and timber panelled door. Set in grounds shared with Saint Joseph's House with side (north-east) and rear (south-east) elevations fronting on to road.
