It is made up of greenfield lands together with sections of existing road, footpath and cycleway. It is bound to the north, east and west by estate roads within Mullingar Business Park (with access from the N52), and to the south by an existing hedgerow.   Situated on a low rise in pasture with moderate views of the surrounding landscape. Annotated 'Fort' on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map and depicted as a circular-shaped tree-lined enclosure to NW of Ardmore House. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped tree-lined enclosure (approx. dims. 62m N-S; 63m E-W). Levelled monument described in 1980 as no surface remains visible. Faint curvilinear cropmark of levelled enclosure barely visible on Digital Globe aerial photography. Possible ringfort or tree-ring on the demesne lands of Ardmore House. • WM019-079 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a slight natural rise, in gently undulating pasture with restricted views. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped partially tree-lined earthwork. Monument described in 1970 as a roughly circular-shaped area (39m ENE-WSW; 33m NNW-SSE) enclosed by a steep earthen bank, a wide shallow fosse and a very fragmentary outer bank. The inner bank has been pushed out into the fosse from E-SE-SSE. It has several small modern gaps but the original entrance is not visible. There is a modern causeway outside one of the gaps at WNW. The outer bank is not concentric with the fosse in a few places and may be a later feature. The interior has a slight SE-facing slope and there are traces of cultivation ridges running NW-SE. A house site (WM019-079001-) and earthworks are located 25m to ENE. Monument visible as a tree-lined earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography.   Description

  Situated on a slight natural rise, in gently undulating pasture with restricted views. About 25m to ENE of ringfort (WM019-079----) is a long rectangular, two-roomed house site defined by a slight earthen bank with no surface remains visible of any doorway. A small complex of earthworks are in the immediate vicinity of the house. The banks and scarps radiate from the corners of house site at E, S and W. They are probably the remains of enclosures associated with the house. Low mounds are visible to SW and NW of the house. Degraded earthworks are barely visible today on Google Earth aerial imagery.   Description

  Situated on a slight rise, in gently undulating pasture with good views in all directions. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as a roughly oval-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1970 as a roughly circular-shaped area (dims. 22m WSW-ENE; 22.5m NNW-SSE) defined by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H approx. 2m; Wth at top 0.4m; basal Wth 4.8m) has been defaced on the exterior from NNW-N-NNE. The outer bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 2.5m; Wth at top 1m; basal Wth 2.7m) and fosse (Wth at top 3.2m; basal Wth 1m) are present from SE-S-W-N-ENE. The original entrance is not recognisable. The interior rises slightly from the perimeter towards the centre where there are the remains of a hut site (WM019-081001-). The interior has traces of cultivation ridges running NE-SW.   Description

  Situated on a small natural rise, in gently undulating pasture with good views of the surrounding landscape. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1970 as a small oval-shaped area (32.30m NE-SW; 24.50m NW-SE) enclosed by a steep bank, fosse and traces of an outer bank. The inner bank (Wth at top 0.5m; overall Wth 5.6m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H approx. 1.7m) has modern gaps at SSW, NW and N, although the original entrance is not recognisable. A later deposit of earth lies against the foot of the bank from ENE-E-S-SSW and there is a slight depression outside this. A later low broad earthen bank extends from the bank at SSW. The fosse is best preserved from N-NE where there are the remains of a very slight outer bank. The interior rises slightly from the perimeter to a level, central area and has traces of cultivation ridges. A possible hut site (WM019-082001-) is in the N quadrant.
