  Description

  Description

  Situated in pasture-land on the NW face of a ridge running SE-NW. A smaller enclosure (WM007-080----) now levelled adjoins the site at SSW. A sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 27m NW-SE; 28m NE-SW) enclosed by a well preserved earthen bank, best preserved at E & S, and wide fosse, deepest at E & S. There is an entrance gap (Wth 1.8m) and causeway (Wth 4.4m) across the fosse at E. The interior slopes appreciable from SW to NE. • WM007-079001 Hut site
  Description

  Situated in pasture-land on the NW face of a ridge which runs SE-NW. A rectangular hut site (dims. 5.4m NW-SE; 3.5m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.7m; H 0.45m) is located in the NE quadrant of a ringfort (WM007-079---).   Description

  Situated in pasture-land on the NW face of a ridge which runs SE-NW. Annotated as ’fort’ on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map. Depicted on 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (approx. diam. 15m E-W) adjoining the SW side of a ringfort (WM007-079----). This site has been levelled. • WM007-083 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on NE facing slope of rising ground with good views from N-E-S-SW. Ringfort (WM007-079----) 580m WSW. Lough Derravaragh 1km to NE. Levelled ringfort described in 1974 as a sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 28m) enclosed by a very poorly preserved earthen bank, with traces of a slight fosse at W. The interior slopes slightly from NW-SE, and has traces of cultivation ridges which run NE-SW. A post 1837 field fence bisects the site from NE-SW. A modern house has been built to the E of the monument. The ringfort has been levelled and is not visible on the 2005 OSI aerial photographs and on Digital Globe aerial photograph taken November 2011.
