• WM011-092 Ringfort - unclassified
  Description

  Situated on S facing slope of a gentle rise with extensive views to E, S & NW. Ringfort (WM011-091----) 370m to W. The road which marks the boundary with Grange townland is 5m to NE. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map as a circular enclosure annotated as ‘pit or old fort’. Depicted as a quarry and not as an antiquity on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. This site is almost completely levelled. All that remains is a large irregular shaped quarry hole and spoil heaps. Local information suggests that stone was quarried from this location to build Grange Hall, which is 500m to W. May have been a ringfort that was quarried out for materials to build Grange Hall. • WM011-093 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on low lying wet grassland. Ringfort (WM011-094----) and mill race 100m to SW. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan as a circular enclosure and annotated as a ‘fort’. Depicted as circular shaped enclosure on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map but not on the revised 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map. Ringfort was levelled between these two dates. All that remains are vague suggestions of a circular scarp (approx. diam 37m NE-SW; H 1.4m). The perimeter is intersected by a drain running NNE-SSW and bank at NE. • WM011-094 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a slight natural rise on relatively low lying wet grassland with corn mill 520m to NNW. Ringfort (WM011-093---) 105m to NE. Depicted as a circular shaped enclosure intersected at W by a mill race on the 1837 ed.OS 6-inch map. Not depicted on revised 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map. A sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 40m N-S; 45m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank. This bank is only visible at SW. The interior rises from the perimeter towards the centre where it levels off to form a depression. A mill race running NNE-SSW intersects the monument from W-SW.
