  Description

  Situated on a low rise in gently undulating grass-land. Ringfort ( WM008-057----) 280m to E. Depicted as a small irregular shaped earthwork on the 1837 ed. OS Fair Plan map. Depicted on the 1837 ed OS 6-inch map but not indicated on subsequent editions of the OS 6-inch maps. Annotated 'Clump' and depicted as tree-ring on an estate map of Barbavilla Demsene (NLI, MS 21 F. 48 (009) ). This site has been levelled. No surface remains visible.   Description

  Situated on relatively low lying land surrounded by gently undulating grass-land. The monument is now located in a small tree plantation. Ringfort (WM008-056----) 280m to W. The townland boundary between with Robertstown is 10m to NE. A circular-shaped earthwork annotated 'Fort' is depicted on an estate map of Barbavilla Demesne (NLI, MS 21 F. 48 (009) ). A raised circular shaped area (diam. 27m N-S; 29m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank. There is an entrance gap (Wth 1.8m) at S. The interior rises slightly from the perimeter towards the centre. Post-1700 field fences enclose the site, and intersect the monument at SW, NW & NE. • WM008-075 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on top of a slight natural rise on the landscaped demesne lands of Barbavilla House located 290m to SSE. Possible ringfort that was converted into a landscaped tree-ring associated with Barbavilla House. Not depicted as an antiquity on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map which may suggest that this earthwork is a post-1700 tree-ring rather than a ringfort. On the 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map a pathway to Barbavilla House is shown running through the W quadrant of the earthwork. On the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map this pathway is annotated as 'Vista Lawn' connecting Barbavilla House to the public road. Present remains consist of a sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 32m N-S; 27m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank and slight external fosse. The bank has been disturbed, and the fosse is only visible at N. There is an entrance gap (Wth 2m) at SE. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running NNE-SSW across the interior. • WM008-077 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a prominent natural rise in gently undulating grassland, with good views in all directions. A raised circular-shaped area (approx. diam. 34m N-S; 36m E-W) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank. The bank is best preserved at N; elsewhere it has been almost completely levelled. The interior is uneven, with a slight depression in the SW quadrant. In the SE quadrant also is a substantial earth and stone bank (L 10m; Wth 4.2m; H 0.75m) extending E-W, curving slightly to N at its E end.   Description

  Situated in the demesne lands of Barbavilla House located 610m to NNW, on a slight natural rise in gently undulating countryside. Ringfort (WM008-077----) 130m to N. Ringfort (WM008-083----) 200m to ENE. A sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 30m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by a well preserved earthen and stone bank and slight external fosse. The bank has several disturbance gaps, and appears to have been steepened internally. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running NW-SE across the interior of the monument.   Description

  Situated on the demesne lands of Barbavilla House 680m to NW on a slight natural rise in a woodland area. Ringfort (WM008-077----) 230m to NW. Ringfort (WM008-082----) 200m to WSW. A circular shaped area (approx. diam. 36m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by a low bank. The bank has been levelled in places. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running E-W across the interior of the monument. The site has been planted with trees, and appears to have been modified as part of this planting.   Description

  An estate map of Barbavilla Demesne shows two rectangular shaped ponds aligned NNE-SSW to the N of Barbavilla House that are annotated 'Old Fish Pond's' (NLI, MS 21 F. 48 (009) ). The location of these two fish ponds are now covered by a tree plantation that is visible on Digital Globe aerial photographs. • The Orchard, house, 1830–1840 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1835, with three-bay single-storey return to the rear (north) having catslide roof. Now derelict and out of use. Hipped natural slate roof having cast-iron rainwater goods and two central rendered chimneystacks with string courses. Roughcast rendered walls over stone plinth course. Square-headed window openings with cut stone sills and remains of two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Central round-headed doorcase having plain surround, remains of timber door and teardrop fanlight over having remains of decorative stained glass. Set back from road in own grounds to the southwest of Collinstown with rendered boundary wall to the south having wrought-iron entrance gates.

• Barbavilla House, country house, 1720–1740 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached nine-bay two-storey over basement double-pile house, built c.1730 and altered c.1790, with two-bay gable-fronted breakfronts to either end (east and west) and a three-bay pedimented breakfront to the centre having later single-bay two-storey porch attached to front (south), c.1900. Four-bay two-storey wing attached to east side. Now in use as offices associated with modern factory. Pitched slate roofs. Dressed limestone walls with ashlar limestone detailing, including projecting moulded string courses. Roughcast rendered finish to projecting porch and to gable sections to breakfront at either end, rubble limestone construction to basement and to pediment over central breakfront. Square-headed window openings with moulded stone sills, ashlar lintels and replacement windows to main body of structure, cast-iron security bars to basement openings. Segmental-headed windows with replacement fittings to projecting porch and a single round-headed opening to pediment over central breakfront. Segmental-headed doorcase to later porch having timber sheeted double doors and a cut limestone open bed pedimented Doric doorcase. Original doorcase had broken segmental pediment over. Set back from road in extensive grounds now largely taken up with modern industrial units. Early outbuilding complexes not accessible. Located to the south of Collinstown.
