Description
Situated on a low ridge running N-S, in rough pasture, with good views of the surrounding landscape. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a subrectangular-shaped earthwork. Monument described as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 42m) enclosed by an earth and stone bank with external fosse. The bank is wide and is low on the interior and is steep on the exterior (H 2-3m). There is a shallow fosse which has been infilled in some places with field clearance material. The interior rises gently from the perimeter towards the centre and the surface is quite uneven. Monument is visible today as a roughly rectangular-shaped tree-lined earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 29 November 2019
