  Description

  Situated on SE facing slope of a prominent rise in grassland, with wet land to S. Depicted as a circular shaped enclosure on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map but not indicated on subsequent editions of the OS maps. Public road to NE curves slightly where it intersected with the monument. This levelled site is not visible on Digital Globe aerial photograph taken November 2011. Described in 1975 as visible only as a circular raised area (approx. diam. 27m NW-SE; NE-SW 35m) which slopes gradually to the SW. A roadway running NW-SE intersects the perimeter of the site at NE; this road also forms the townland boundary with Taghmon. • WM012-069 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on top of a slight natural rise in grassland surrounded by higher natural ridges. Ringfort (WM012-070----) 180m to SSW, ringfort (WM012-071----) 200m to ESE. A raised circular shaped area (approx. diam. 28m N-S; 26m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank and a slight external fosse. The bank is best preserved at NW, and reduced to a scarp elsewhere. There is a possible entrance at NNE, where there is a slight depression (Wth 1.8m) in the scarp. A field fence forms part of the perimeter of the monument from SE-S-W. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI.   Description

  Situated on N facing slope of a slight rise in grassland, surrounded by gently undulating countryside. This site is almost completely levelled. A circular shaped area (approx. diam. 32m N-S) enclosed by a very poorly preserved earthen bank and a slight external fosse. There is a possible entrance at NE, where there is a slight depression (Wth 1.8m) in the scarp. A field fence forms part of the perimeter of the monument from ESE-S-WSW. • WM012-071 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a gentle NE slope in grassland. The land rises gently from the site to S-SW and W, with good views in other directions. Ringfort (WM012-069----) 200m to WNW. A raised circular shaped area (approx. diam. 35m N-S; 34m EW) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a slight external fosse. The bank is best preserved from S-W-WNW, and reduced to a scarp elsewhere. The interior has a slight slope from SSW-NNE. There is a possible entrance at SE, where there is a slight depression (Wth 1.2m) in the scarp. Just outside this is a large possible quarry hole. A field fence running NNE-SSW intersects the perimeter of the monument at NNW. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI.
