- WM007-081 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated in pasture-land on a narrow terrace on the W facing slope of rising ground with extensive views to the NW & S. Killintown House 120m to SSE. Levelled ringfort (WM007-082----) 320m to E. A raised D-shaped area (approx. diam. 65m NNW-SSE; 60m NE-SW) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank, best preserved at NE, and almost completely levelled elsewhere, and slight external fosse which has been almost completely in-filled. - WM007-082 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on top of a steep hillock, large modern quarry in are where monument is marked on OS 6-inch map. Ringfort (WM007-081----) 320m to W. Annotated as ‘fort’ on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map, and depicted as a circular hachured oval enclosure on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. An ASI field report from 1975 described the monument as a denuded ringfort (approx. diam. 20m N-S; 15m E-W) located on top of a steep hillock.
