  Description

  Situated in gently undulating pasture. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a roughly oval-shaped tree-lined earthwork. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a suboval-shaped earthwork. Monument is visible today as a partially scrub-covered oval-shaped earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. • WM030-088 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a rise, in pasture and overlooking low-lying, rough pasture to N. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a roughly oval-shaped earthwork abutting a field boundary to E and S. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (approx. diam. 42m) defined by a scarp, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The scarp is constructed of earth and stone and is defined on the exterior by a shallow fosse. There are traces of a slight outer bank visible from SW-W-N-E-SE which may be incorporated in to a field boundary from SE-S-SW. The interior is relatively level and some stones project from the surface. Monument is visible today as a tree-planted earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography.   Description

  Situated on a rise, in pasture, with good views in all directions. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a roughly oval-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 28m) enclosed by a slight bank. The NE sector of the monument is cut off by a curvilinear-shaped field boundary which traverses the monument and is concentric to the bank from NW-N-E-ESE. The remains of the bank on the SW side of the field boundary have been disturbed by ploughing. The interior has an E-facing slope and the surface is uneven. Monument described in 1979 as no surface remains visible except the curvilinear field boundary traversing the NE side of the monument. Levelled ringfort is visible today as a cropmark of a roughly oval-shaped area on Digital Globe aerial photography, the curvilinear field boundary is still in-situ.   Description

  Situated on a rise, in pasture, with good views to S. Depicted on the OS Fair Plan map as a small rectangular-shaped tree-planted enclosure. Shown on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a suboval-shaped earthwork which is truncated across the N sector by a field boundary running E-W. Monument described as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 30m) enclosed by a low broad bank which is almost completely levelled. There is a shallow fosse from SSE-S-SSW. The interior rises slightly from the perimeter towards the centre. Levelled monument is visible today as a roughly circular-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe aerial photography.   Description

  Situated on a ridge running NE-SW, in pasture, with good views to E and S. Ringfort (WM036-007----) lies c. 160m to S. Annotated 'Fort' on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map and depicted as as a subrectangular-shaped tree-planted enclosure. Shown on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a D-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 33m) enclosed by a scarp best preserved from S-W-N. The interior rises from the perimeter at W towards the centre and falls sharply toward the low embankment at E. Levelled monument described in 1977 as no surface remains visible.   Description

  Situated on a rise, in rough pasture, with good views of the surrounding landscape. Ringfort (WM036-002----) lies c. 160m to N. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a roughly circular-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 30m) enclosed by an earth and stone bank and external fosse. The inner bank is only visible from WSW-W-WNW and is reduced to a scarp elsewhere, being quite low from NNE-E-ESE. There is a shallow external fosse only visible from WSW-W-WNW. The interior is relatively level. A number of large field clearance boulders have been pushed up against the monument.
