• WM020-080 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a slight rise, on NNE-facing slope, in gently undulating pasture, with good views NE-E-S-W-NW. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as an oval-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1970-2 as a subcircular-shaped area (dims. 31.6m WNW-ESE; 28m NNE-SSW) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (overall Wth 5.2m; top Wth 0.4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.5m) that is best preserved NE-E-S-W-NNW and is much disturbed by modern quarrying from NNW-N-NE. Part of a modern field bank running WNW-ESE has been incorporated into the enclosing elements from SE-S-SW. The original entrance is not visible and there is no visible external fosse. • WM020-084 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a slight rise, in gently undulating pasture, with excellent views from NW-NE. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as an oval-shaped earthwork which is open to N. Monument described in 1970-2 as an oval-shaped area (dims. 33m WNW-ESE; 28.4m NNE-SSW) enclosed by a bank and an external fosse. The bank has been quarried away from NNW-NE and there are gaps at SE and SW. The fosse is visible at W only. The original entrance is not recognisable but may have been at NE. The interior has a gentle N-facing slope and has been quarried within the N quadrant. There are quarry holes and modern banks on the exterior of the monument from SE-WSW.
