• CW018-016001 Church
  Description

  The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 16 December 2009 Revised by: J. Farrelly Tickell (JKAS 1960, 408) mentions reference to church or chapel in 'Moyacan' now Clonegall, in Royal Grant of 1627 to Sir Maurice Eustace. Down Survey records church as 'ruined' in 1650. Present remains consist of central raised mound (H c. 3m) enclosed by fosse with external bank visible from W-N-NE, elsewhere modified by extention of graveyard (CW018-016006-). Nineteenth-century church now stands on mound. Cross base of socketed squared granite boulder. Quern stone found in graveyard in 1902 (JAPMD 1905, 192) and placed in present church. Earthwork is probably ringfort in origin although also resembles modified motte.

• Saint Fiacc's Church (Moyacomb), church/chapel, 1815–1820 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached three-bay single-cell Board of First Fruits style Church of Ireland church, c. 1819, with stone dressings including stringcourses, quoins, finials and tower having crenellated parapet. Extended, c. 1860, with chancel added. Interior with side aisles, wall monuments, gallery and replacement timber ceiling, c. 1880. Set within early Christian churchyard.

• Saint Brigid's Catholic Church, church/chapel, 1830–1860 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached single-cell Catholic Church, c. 1845, with pointed-arch openings and entrance bay to gable end having bellcote to gable. Extensively renovated, c. 1975. Interior retains pedimented Corinthian reredos and decorative plaster ceiling.

• The Glebe House, rectory/glebe/vicarage/curate's house, 1700–1740 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey over basement double-pile former glebe house with dormer attic, c. 1720, with gable ends and flanking carriageways. Renovated internally, c. 1820. Interior retains original doorcases, chimney pieces, staircase and alterations, c. 1820. Now in private residential use.

  Seven-bay two-storey house, c. 1760, on a corner site with round-headed door opening having sidelights, round-headed window opening over and return to rear. Reroofed and renovated, c. 1990.
