  Description

  The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Shown on 1839 'OS 6-inch' map as small circular enclosure (max. diam. c. 20m) and on 1908 ed. as small mound on top of rise. Price described site as a modified natural mound with traces of fosse and bank at base, slight platform half way up and summit. diam. c 3m, (1929, Notebook No. 4). Mound has been quarried extensively. None of these features now visible. Location overlooking Scotland Brook to N, where it goes through small gorge, suggests defensive site.

  Description

  Detached three-bay single-cell Church of Ireland church, c. 1780. Renovated, 1820, with stone built tower added having crenellations and pinnacles. Interior remodelled, c. 1875. Interior retains early pews, communion rails, pulpit, group of wall monuments, balcony and open truss timber roof.
