- ME002-001 Ringfort - rath
Description
Located towards the top of a steep NW-facing slope and within the W edge of a deciduous forest. This is a circular overgrown area (diam. 33.4m E-W; 32m N-S) that slopes down (H 2.6m) to the WNW. It is defined by an earthen bank (at ESE: Wth of base 6m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.6m) which has been damaged by two N-W modern field banks outside it at E. The perimeter is reduced to a scarp (at WNW: Wth 3m; H 2.1m) and an outer berm (at WNW: Wth 4m). The original entrance is not identified and it is enclosed by a field bank NE-S-N at the edge of demesne woodland. Rath (ME002-002----) is c. 150m to the SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Situated at the summit of a hill and at the SW edge of a deciduous wood. This is a subcircular area (dims 39m N-S; 35m E-W) that slopes down slightly to the E. It is defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 6-8m; int. H 0.7-1.3m; ext. H 2.3m at SE to 3.2m at SW) separated by a fosse (Wth of top 6-7.5m; Wth of base 1.2-2m; ext. D 1.7-2.8m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 8-8.5m; ext. H 2.2m at SE to 3.8m at NW). This in turn is separated by a fosse (Wth of top 6.5-7m; Wth of base 1.5-2m; ext. D 0.9-1.2m) from a third outer bank (Wth of base 3-5m; ext. H 1m) and an outer field drain (Wth of base 0.9m; ext. D 0.7m) that is only evident NW-E-SE. There is a berm (max. Wth 4.5m) between the inner fosse and the middle bank SE-SW. The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 2.2m), middle (Wth of base 2.1m) and outer (Wth of base 1.8m) banks is at ESE with causeways (Wth of top 3.5m; H 0.8m) over both fosses. Inside the inner bank at NW is a depression (dims 6m NNE-SSW; c. 1.5m E-W; D c. 0.8m) with a spur (dims 5.5m WNW-ESE; c. 1.5m N-S) off the S end which might be a souterrain although no stone is evident. Description

- Kingscourt Railway Station, railway station, 1860–1870 · Regional interest
Description
Detached three-bay two-storey railway station, built 1865, with three-bay single-storey goods shed having shallower three-bay wing. Partially reconstructed c.2005, now disused. Pitched replacement slate roof to station building with recent decorative timber bargeboards, off-centre rendered chimneystack with clay pots, second rendered stack to southern gable wall now removed. Red brick walls with sandstone ashlar block and start quoins and rendered plinth. Single remaining window to rear elevation comprising bipartite pair of one-over-one timber sashes, stone sills to all window openings. Double-leaf timber panelled door with overlight now blocked up. Pitched slate roof to goods shed, roof to three-bay wing now in ruins. Coursed-squared rubble stone walls to shed and wing with punched stone ashlar block-and-start quoins to south side of wing. Round-headed window openings with red brick surrounds. Large square-headed entrance to west side of shed and large round-headed opening to south side, pair of smaller entrances to return with red brick relieving arches, all now boarded up. Rubble stone parapet wall to platform. Railway sleepers and tracks with turntable to west.

Description
Detached L-plan three-bay single-storey gate lodge, built c.1820, with advanced gabled end bay added c.1860. Now disused. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, red brick chimneystack to northern gable end, red brick chimneystack to ridge intersection, cast-iron rainwater goods. Limewashed roughcast render to rubble-stone walls, brick dressing and stone sills to window openings. Bipartite window with pair of one-over-one timber sash windows to front elevation, enlarged opening to advanced bay, now boarded up. One-over-one timber sliding sash window to rear and north elevations. Timber sheeted doors to front and rear.
