Description
Located in a small U-shaped bay (dims c. 90m E-W; c. 50m N-S) on the S shore of the subrectangular Garty Lough (dims c. 1.23km ENE-WSW; c. 0.5-0.95km NNW-SSE), but this feature is not depicted on any map. A small wooded island (diam. c. 10m) is visible on all the available aerial imagery from 1995 onwards. It was first reported by Anne-Karoline Distel but has not yet been visited. Description
Terraced five-bay two-storey house and shop, built c.1870, with shopfront to ground floor and integral carriage-arch to north bay, two-storey return to rear. Pitched replacement slate roof, red brick chimneystacks to gables and ridge having plat bands and projecting bands with decorative corbels, moulded corbels at eaves, replacement rainwater goods. Smooth rendered walls, channelled to ground floor and having raised rendered plinth. Raised render quoins to south and painted quoins to north. Window openings to first floor having moulded render surrounds and stone sills supported on corbels. Channelled keystone above ground floor window. Replacement uPVC windows. Channelled voussoir above segmental-headed carriage arch. Round-headed door opening with moulded profile having freestanding barley-sugar twisted columns with Ionic capitals and stepped bases, supporting dentilated entablature and single pane fanlight. Timber door incorporating bolection panels, limestone threshold. Timber shopfront comprising central glazed door flanked by single pane display windows, segmental timber arches to transom lights above and panelled stall riser below. Fluted pilasters with carved console brackets supporting round-headed fascia-ends, dentilated course over recent fascia sign.

Semi-detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1820, with shopfront to north bay. Pitched slate roof, shared rendered chimneystack to party wall, replacement rainwater goods. Ruled-and-lined rendered walls having continuous raised strip quoins to north corner. Rubble stone walls to gable. Window openings having stone sills and two-over-two timber sash windows. Central door opening with replacement door and multiple pane overlight approached by flight of steps. Timber shopfront comprising glazed door and large display window having panelled pilasters supporting plain fascia terminated by console brackets, steps to door.

Description
Attached nine-bay two-storey former market house and court house, built c.1820, with central three-bay pedimented breakfront, and outer three bays with canted bays flanking central door to north block. Renovated 2001, partly used as a courthouse until 2008, now in use as library. Pitched slate roof with perforated crested clay ridge tiles, modillions to eaves course. Brick chimneystacks with stepped collar bands to south gable and pair to north wing, cast-iron rainwater goods. Dressed ashlar limestone breakfront having horizontal and raked modillion cornice to pediment and semi-circular opening with louvers to tympanum. Rendered outer bays having raised render quoins and cut stone string course at first floor sill level. Roughcast rendered walls to rear and side elevations. External stairs to south gable formerly providing access to courtroom to south. Gabled central rear bay. Window openings to first floor having moulded string course at sill level, one-over-one timber sash windows. Round-headed central arch elliptically chamfered to ground floor, recessed replacement door screen behind. Windows having moulded stucco surrounds and one-over-one timber sash windows, margin panes to centre window of ground floor. North wing having central segmental-headed door opening with moulded architrave, keystone, and stone sills to three-quarter side lights. Timber panelled door with fanlight. Stone step and threshold. Doorway flanked by canted bay windows with hipped roofs having scalloped-shaped slates, one-over-one timber sashes, timber sills, and rendered plinths. One-over-one timber sash windows and replacement doors to rear. Market scales and weight still extant internally. Set back from street line with former market square to front.

End-of-terrace double-pile three-bay two-storey house, built c.1870, with bank to ground floor c.1930. Now in use as bank. Pitched slate roof with moulded timber eaves course supported on corbels, red brick chimneystacks to north gables and ridge having collar band and projecting course supported on decorative corbels and surmounted by octagonal-profile clay pots, replacement stack to south gable, replacement rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth. Lined-and-ruled render to bankfront, terminating with decorative curved kneeler, sitting on smooth rendered plinth. Roughcast rendered walls to north gable elevations over smooth plinth. Segmental-headed windows with patent reveals and stone sills having one-over-one timber sash windows. Bankfront with recent fascia below convex modillioned cornice. Entrance with segmental-headed opening having timber panelled double doors. Single window bay to north and two window bays to south of entrance with deep-set windows of recent type above rendered walls. Cast-iron railings on plinth standing to front of window recesses. Segmental-headed windows with one-over-one timber sashes with exposed sash boxes to gable elevations. Round-headed opening to door in rear gable with moulded surround and replacement timber door screen.

Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1920, with gabled projecting full-height end bays to front elevation, and two-bay two-storey return to rear. Now also in use as veterinary surgery. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles, red brick chimneystacks with stepped collar bands. Timber bargeboards, terracotta finals to projecting bays and return, stepped finials near eaves flanking gables, cast-iron rainwater goods. Smooth rendered walls with bevelled smooth rendered plinth. Projecting bays having channelled banding to sides and roughcast render to gables, wiith dentillated course below, moulded double profile to mid height of upper paired windows with wetdash to wall between one-over-one timber sashes. Moulded string course to sill level of upper windows continuous across façade, with continuous smooth band and smaller moulded string below. Smooth rendered walls to gables. Roughcast rendered walls to rear and return. Triple light timber casements to ground floor of projecting bays with lights to sides and curved profile sills. Central bay of main elevation with arch below balcony. Panelled timber entrance door with glazed upper sections and overlight with margin panes. Wetdash render to balcony walls with dentillated course over continuing from gables and glazed timber double doors. Open stucco balustrade to front of balcony. One-over-one timber sashes with margin panes to gable elevations, rear and return. Replacement glazed rear and return doors with side and overlights. Decorative cast-iron double gates with scrollwork with square-profile rendered piers having decorative recess panels and stepped cappings, with flanking curved wing walls, having further piers with ball finials.

Description
Freestanding Italian-Romanesque style Roman Catholic church, built 1927-9, having gabled entrance front flanked by three-stage bell-towers, seven-bay nave with side aisles, rounded apse, side entrance porches, gable fronted single-storey sacristy to north-east. Pitched slate roof, stone verge coping to gables surmounted by cross finials, limestone ashlar chimneystack with cornice detail to sacristy gable, sections of cast-iron gutters with square-profile hopper heads. Cut stone cornice and deep eaves course supported by carved corbels. Coursed squared limestone rubble walls having raised plinth with chamfered course, granite ashlar quoins. Granite plat band above windows almost continuous around church. Round-headed granite surrounds to openings with double course to arches and cut stone sills. Gabled front elevation having Lombard band to eaves, recessed rose window with granite surrounds and hood moulding. Stepped string course to elevation above door with pediment having Sacred Heart statue in front of rose window. Round-headed entrance arch with concave reveals having apsidal stoop niches, stepped archivolt, and hood moulding. Bipartite square-headed door arrangement and mosaic in tympanum above. Timber sheeted double doors with decorative ironmongery. Round-headed windows flanking opening with stone steps to entrance. Square-plan three-stage towers have overhanging pyramidal roof surmounted by crosses. Granite ashlar upper stage having Lombard band to eaves course and round-arched openings to four sides. Coursed squared limestone to lower stages with granite dressings, slit windows, and string courses. Round-headed windows to end of aisles flanking towers and having external corners marked with clasping buttresses. Granite coping to parapet of side aisles and side porches having pediment breaking parapet with blind oculus and continuing a plat band at sill level of altar end. Quatrefoil openings to north-east elevation of side aisles. Sheeted timber doors to porches having decorative ironmongery and fanlights over. Plain ashlar pilasters to apse. Barrel vault plaster ceiling to nave having transverse plaster arches supported on decorative corbels, nave arcade with stucco decoration to arches resting on plain columns, vaulted plaster ceiling to side aisles. Colour glass windows with fish-scale pattern. Gallery to entrance end spanning full width with horizontal coffered ceiling to underside. Round-headed glazed timber doors and overlights to entrances below gallery. Richly panelled marble and mosaic to altar and side altar. Timber confessionals freestanding in arched niches beside side porches. Geometric tiled floor and timber pews. Church set back from the road bounded by rubble stone walls having square-plan gate piers with carved cross to semi-circular gabled capstones and wrought-iron gates.

Description
Attached gable-fronted two-bay double-height garage, built c.1940, having set-back extension to east. Barrel corrugated-metal roof. Smooth rendered walls to front elevation having gable with raised apex section, square concrete coping, roughcast render to gable with smooth margin band, oculus to centre with smooth rendered surround. Façade flanked by smooth rendered square-plan piers with projecting square copings standing higher than start of gable. Roughcast render to side elevations with buttresses at intervals. Square-headed opening to east with sheeted timber, glazed screen, and uPVC door to west. Open plan interior with roof supported by metal trusses. Set back from road.
